Bride DIY is wonderful ♡ But...

☑ To save on wedding costs

☑ To make my ideal and preferences come true

☑ Because I want a wedding that reflects who I am

The reasons vary, but

Recently, there are so many brides who are DIYing their wedding items*

From welcome boards and reception signs to table numbers and LOVE objects, the variety of items is endless.

Every time I see the original creations that a bride has put her creativity into at a wedding I've attended, I always think, "Wow, that's amazing!" ♡

But...!

Occasionally, I come across wedding items where DIY mistakes lead to thoughts like “Oh, this is a bit disappointing” or “Is it okay as it is?”

So let’s check the common mistakes and disappointing aspects of bride DIY in advance to avoid feeling embarrassed when guests notice on the wedding day!

① The English spelling is incorrect.

This is especially common! One major mistake is misspelling the English words on DIY items*

Recently, I saw "Groom" spelled as "Groome," or "Best day ever" as "Best day evey," or "three" as "tree."

If guests notice mistakes in simple words, it can be embarrassing, and

You might be thought of as not being very smart... (;;) It would be shocking if the groom, who was supposed to confirm it, also gets thought of that way.

So when writing in English, don't just take what you see in Instagram or online photos at face value;

Be sure to check for spelling mistakes before DIYing using a smartphone dictionary or similar*

② It looks too cheap.

This is a downside of DIY, but wedding items that look too cheap might not leave a good impression on guests.

For example, if the back of photo props is messily held together with tape,

or if the menu and drink lists look like something made in Word and have a very plain pub menu vibe,

or if the paper items use an excessive amount of masking tape or stickers, resulting in a childish design... and so on!

It’s best to be conscious of not creating designs that feel too cheap, which guests might think, “Receiving this is a bit underwhelming.”*

③ The DIY items are on the verge of breaking.

Lastly, I'll share something I personally experienced when attending a wedding,

where the DIY wedding item was either broken or on the verge of breaking, which was indeed disappointing...!

In my case, a balloon displayed in the welcome area was slightly deflated,

and the flowers on the LOVE object were coming loose, and I remember being careful about holding it.

For brides who have some time left before the wedding after doing DIY, it's also an important duty to store them in a beautiful condition*

Be sure to take care when DIYing*

DIYing wedding items is a wonderful thing, but

if there are spelling mistakes, a cheap atmosphere, or items that are falling apart, guests will think, “Huh?” and feel disappointed,

and the bride herself will feel very embarrassed...!

So while DIYing, please be mindful of the things I've introduced this time, and create wonderful handmade wedding items*
