I'm Excited! I Want to Go! IKEA Opens in Front of Harajuku Station for the 2020 Olympics ♡

IKEA is Coming to Harajuku in 2020!

Great news for everyone living in the Tokyo metropolitan area ♩

It has been decided that IKEA will open a new store right in front of Harajuku Station in spring 2020, during the Tokyo Olympics ♡

Up until now, there have only been four IKEA stores in the Kanto region: in Tachikawa, Yokohama, New Misato in Saitama, and Funabashi in Chiba.

It would be nice to have a car, but with public transport, they were all somewhat far from the station, meaning they were suburban stores.

However, the new IKEA will be right in front of Harajuku Station on the JR Yamanote Line! It will be IKEA's first store in the city center ♩

The location is not at the Takeshita-dori entrance, but rather at the Omotesando entrance (Meiji Shrine side), within the new complex building "Harajuku Station Front Project," near GAP.

Given its urban, station-close location, it's easy to access even without a car, and those working in the city will likely be able to stop by after work on weekdays ♩

Rumor has it there will be a food court＊

Many IKEA stores have popular food courts where customers can enjoy meals along with shopping.

According to Helen von Reis, the representative director of IKEA Japan, "Of course, we plan to offer the beloved meals that everyone enjoys at the Harajuku store," ♡
