We prepared separate place cards for the groom and bride!
There were many workplace guests on the groom’s side and the age range was higher, so we used standard two-fold paper place cards for everyone.
The bride’s side received acrylic place cards with just the first names of guests! The reaction from the bride’s side guests was positive, and I’m glad I didn’t give up and went for it ♡
(I also made acrylic place cards for the relatives on the bride’s side. The oldest relative on my side is my mother, who is 53 years old.)
I wanted to ensure there were no oversights, so I decided to have separate designs for the groom’s side (mainly workplace guests and older relatives) and the bride’s side (mainly friends, work colleagues, and younger relatives)!
If you want to have modern place cards, it’s essential to think carefully about whether it would be considered impolite to set them up.
I think it’s also a good idea to pursue what you want while catering only to guests who will understand it!
Case 2 of Having Multiple Place Card Designs
The design of the place cards was the same, but for friends, we used Roman letters, and for relatives and superiors, we displayed their names in Kanji to make it easier to find their seats and avoid any offense!
I ordered a cute frame stamp from a stamp artist and stamped it onto craft paper, writing the names by hand!
Case 3 of Having Multiple Place Card Designs
We separated the seating charts.
For the friends, I wanted to use a short comment or nickname that reflects their personality in place of their titles.
For example, “Reliable Team Leader,” “Drinks 6 Days a Week,” “B1 Idol,” and such.
I was told it was great since it helped start conversations even among strangers!
On the other hand, for relatives, I prepared a version with formal titles for greetings and other considerations.
Although the appearance of the seating charts was the same, I attached a sticky note to each one for the relatives and informed the reception staff beforehand, so there was no confusion!
I did everything from creating the data to printing it myself!
Case 4 of Having Multiple Place Card Designs
The design itself was the same, but I ordered two different colors and made them separately.
I really liked the rose color, while my husband preferred brown since he didn’t want it to be “too cute.”
Case 5 of Having Multiple Place Card Designs
I made rosettes for the place cards, so I prepared different colors for male and female guests ☺️❤️
No Problem with Having Separate Designs*
I shared experiences from brides who separated the designs and content of seating charts and place cards for the groom's and bride's sides.
It’s perfectly fine to prepare them separately and seems to allow for freedom, but it may require extra care on the day to set them up at the seats.
It’s better to check with your planner first to see if it is acceptable to prepare multiple varieties.
(There might be additional fees involved!)
May you have the wedding of your dreams with adorable and ideal items! ♡
