It's truly sad that in a world filled with delicious treats, the gifts for such an important event like a wedding only include "things that taste mediocre."
In this article, I’m going to introduce my favorite sweets that I would choose if I could freely select wedding favors with a focus on taste! ♡
① Atelier Ukai Cookies
The Ukai Group, which is perfect for important occasions like family gatherings or the first meal of a baby's life.
Atelier Ukai is a shop that started selling sweets because the Petit Fours from their teppanyaki restaurant, Ukai-Tei, were so well-received.
These cookies are characterized by a lightness fitting for post-meal Petit Fours. But they are rich and elegant cookies with plenty of flavor and aroma! ♡
The product lineup can be broadly divided into two categories: the cute Western-style French assorted cookies and the Japanese-inspired fukiyose.
The fukiyose, known as the salted can, is always sold out first. It includes savory-flavored cookies such as basil and tomato! ♡
➁ Robuchon Stollen
The limited-time Robuchon stollen is sold around November each year.
I absolutely love this. I’ve tried various stollen, but Robuchon’s is the most moist, fragrant, and packed with nuts and raisins. It tastes like Germany's Christmas! ♡
There’s also a chocolate version, which is available from February to March after the Christmas season.
(This one is also seriously delicious. Chocolate is unbeatable.)
The price is around 2500 to 3000 yen including the box, but if the timing of my wedding coincides with the season when this is available, I would definitely want to choose a gift like this.
③ Herme Cookies
Pierre Herme is another pastry chef I adore. He is a gentle genius, often referred to as the "Picasso of the pastry world," a slightly plump French man filled with incredible passion for sweets.
(On the right)
The cakes made by Mr. Herme are not just sweet; they combine sour and bitter flavors, creating complex tastes that are inspiring. His baked goods are also delicious, making them perfect for gifts! ♡
The most classic one is the Sablee au Financier Vanille, which contains vanilla beans.
The Ispahan sable, one of Pierre Herme’s signature creations, is also delicious, and during Valentine’s and White Day, they sell chocolate-coated sables that are highly addictive.
They are all priced around 1200 to 2000 yen.
④ Gran Marble Danish
I love this too.
Some may say, "I've received this because it’s a wedding staple!" I understand the feeling of not wanting to have duplicates, but isn't this delicious???
Considering from the guest's perspective, there’s an argument that it’s better to have something delicious, even if it's a popular item, rather than a peculiar or mediocre-flavored gift.
(Just like how Yoku Moku's Cigaole is the best souvenir.)
Plus, Gran Marble often appears in the wedding venue catalog, right? It’s enviable that one can select Gran Marble, which is delicious, comes in a stylish box, and has a substantial volume without any additional costs.
The price is also quite reasonable at around 1000 yen for one.
⑤ Jiichiro Baumkuchen
If you want to choose something auspicious and wedding-themed.
When thinking of weddings, Baumkuchen comes to mind. I love Jiichiro's Baumkuchen. It’s not dry at all, and the batter is finely textured and fluffy.
It’s about 8 cm tall and has a diameter of around 15 cm, being quite large, but whenever I receive it, I take it to work, break it into four pieces by hand, and we all enjoy it together.
The sugary part is crunchy and sweet, making it delightful ♩ The box and wrapping also have a luxurious feel.
Delicious and satisfying sweets.
I absolutely love cakes and sweets, and among them, I focused on baked goods with a longer shelf life that are delicious and make great gifts.
I picked and introduced items that I would want to use as wedding favors if I were to have my own wedding.
If you have any recommendations, please let me know! ♩
