Purun Purun ♡ Kyara Bimochi is Amazing!
In this world overflowing with cute sweets, I found another food that makes me say, "That's just too amazing...!"♡
And that is this, Kyara Bimochi.
Kyara Bimochi is a portmanteau of "character" and "warabimochi." It's a bouncy warabimochi shaped like a character's face!♡
This handmade home sweet has been popular on Instagram since around the summer of 2018.
Isn't the idea of "adding some arrangement to warabimochi to make it cute" truly incredible...?!♡
(The person who came up with this idea is @seiko.ne.jp, who creates character food. A genius!)
How to Make It?
Kyara Bimochi can be made simply by purchasing store-bought warabimochi and drawing the character's face on it with chocolate pens (in colors like white, black, brown, or pink)♩
Besides using chocolate pens, you can also cut up black sesame or seaweed and place them on top.
It can be a bit of patience if you have many, but making them one by one is a simple task, and it seems fun to make each face slightly different.
Let's refer to photos on Instagram and try making them at home!♡
Here are various Kyara Bimochi designs introduced*
Various Designs of Kyara Bimochi ♡
This is a Rilakkuma Kyara Bimochi ♡
Since it's laid on kinako (roasted soybean flour), the color of the kinako shows through the mochi, giving it Rilakkuma's color!
The way they are all clustered together pushing against each other is just too cute*
There is also Pom Pom Purin Kyara Bimochi.
The hat can be drawn with chocolate pens, but it seems nice to put chilled hardened chocolate on it too!♡
And this is Anpanman...!
A slightly misshapen warabimochi gives it a more charming look ♡
Hello Kitty's Kyara Bimochi is super lovely ♩
The colorful ribbon and flower parts are made by cutting a working material called "Toto Sheet."
It seems that you can also arrange using decoration materials like silver dragees and chocolate sprinkles*
Here is Snoopy's Kyara Bimochi.
It looks like the face is drawn with bamboo charcoal powder♩
A slightly larger size of warabimochi makes a great impact!
I also discovered a green Kyara Bimochi of Little Green Men*
The standard bottom layer is kinako, but it seems this one is drizzled with melon syrup for shaved ice.
The combination of sweet syrup and warabimochi is outstanding both visually and in taste!♡
At first glance, I thought it was dyed light blue warabimochi, but it turns out it simply reflects the color of the plate. It hasn't been altered at all!
It's a clever idea that only works with transparent warabimochi, right?♡

As it starts to warm up, I begin to crave cool, refreshing, bouncy, sweet, and delicious Japanese sweets like warabimochi♡
