How many people are choosing place cards other than paper?

Agate, Capiz, Corabelle tile, Quartz, etc.

When you search for "place card" on Instagram, you see a lot of stylish place cards made of these "non-paper" materials, making you feel like "Is this the mainstream now?"

However, when we conducted a survey, the actual percentage of people who said they have received a non-paper place card at a wedding they attended is only about 10%.

In rough terms, this means that "90% of the people in the world are choosing traditional paper place cards" and that "place cards made of tiles, agate, and other materials are very rare."

So, even if you come across these stylish and unique place cards, there's no need to think, “Everyone's choosing these! Do I have to do this too?”

On the contrary, if you want to go with this, you can take pride in having prepared something “incredibly rare like this!♡”

But.

After receiving a unique non-paper place card, what happens to it once people bring it home??

Doesn’t that make you curious?

We collected stories from guests who have received unusual material place cards*

I received a name-engraved chopstick made of Hinoki (Japanese cypress) as a place card.

I feel it's too precious to use, so I still haven't used it...

However, I am keeping it safely💕

I received a Corabelle tile as a place card, so I put a magnet on the back and displayed it☺️💓

I received a place card that was made with resin, embedding dried flowers and name pieces—kind of acrylic?

I was excited to take it home because it was cute and intricately made! But, in the end, I didn’t use it much, and because it’s so well-made, I’m having trouble throwing it away. Haha.

I received a handmade place card written in cursive on wood!

I have various decorations in the entrance, so I placed it there together😊

This is a bit different, but it was a rosette.

When we received it, everyone wore it, but now it’s just sitting at home💤 Haha.

Sorry, I'm on the bride's side.

I made the place card using personalized sake masu (square sake cup), but...

After the wedding, everyone continued to display it, which made me feel happy yet guilty....

Because having my name on it makes it difficult to throw away...

I was satisfied with it, but I am reflecting on whether it has become a self-satisfying burden...

I have received an acrylic place card. When I got it on the wedding day, I thought it was so cute😍💕 and happily took it home, but I honestly have no use for it afterward, so initially, I displayed it, but now it's just sitting on the shelf💭

A candle with squishy stuff inside made of glass... My husband received it, so I was puzzled about what to do with it, but

since it was purple and didn’t match our interior, I displayed it for a while and casually threw it away(^^;;

I usually just throw them away!!! Haha🤣

I have received a place card made of plaster (apparently something that’s supposed to be decorated with aromatherapy oil)!

I haven’t told the bride about this, but it broke when I brought it home...

I don't usually use aromatherapy oil, so even if I had brought it home safely, it might have caused trouble😅

Adding a magnet sounds great♡

The non-paper place cards I received at the wedding.

I thought it was a good idea to say, "It had a magnet, so I stuck it on the refrigerator!"

(Magnet items for sticking on the refrigerator tend to be collected for some reason.)

There were many responses like “I put it away because I have no use for it” or “I threw it away...,” but still, the place cards at weddings are meant to be just that,

The original role of "wedding place cards" has already been admirably fulfilled, so seeking further roles or uses could be asking too much,

Maybe it’s better to think, “If someone uses it, that's divine!”

For brides preparing place cards made of tiles, agate, capiz, or quartz (given that they also come with a higher price), the thought of “They might use it even after the ceremony” could serve as a way to convince themselves, but more than that,

It seems the most important motivation is, “I want to choose this as my place card!” which is such an obvious realization.*

By the way, I have never received place cards made of tiles or agate, so I would really love to see them and would probably cherish and use them as photography props at home if I received them!
