It's no wonder that it became a hot topic all over Japan.
The plot of the movie is about Miguel, a boy who dreams of becoming a musician, who accidentally wanders into the Land of the Dead on the Day of the Dead, where he meets his great-great-grandfather Hector and goes on an adventure together,
depicting a musical story of love and bonds that transcend life and death ♡
The box office revenue was around 5 billion yen, making it a huge hit ♩
Many people were so impressed by the depth of the story and the beauty of the songs that they went to see it multiple times in both dubbed and subtitled versions.
In the Japanese dubbed version, not only Hikaru Ishibashi as Miguel and Naohito Fujiki as Hector, but also Satoshi Hashimoto and Yasuko Matsuyuki were praised for their singing voices.
In any case, both the songs and the content are top-notch! It's such a wonderful and memorable love movie ♡
Introducing All Songs from the Movie ♡
From here, I will introduce all the songs from "Coco" that were featured in the movie, sourced from YouTube ♡
If you find something you like, it might be nice to use it as background music for weddings.
Be sure to give them a listen ♩
Song 1 from Coco: "Remember Me"
First up, of course, is this one ♡
The song "Remember Me" sung by the protagonist Miguel is a timeless classic in Disney movie history.
Hikaru Ishibashi's soft voice before his voice change is gentle and grand, resonating deeply in the heart ♡
It would be perfect for quiet moments at a wedding, such as during the bride's letter reading.
This "Remember Me" is also sung by a few others besides Miguel, and here is the version by Ernesto de la Cruz (who is technically the villain!) ♡
Unlike Miguel's version, this one features a pop and glamorous melody.
The version of "Remember Me" sung by Hector in his lifetime, along with his young daughter Coco, is another tear-jerking piece that is hard to listen to without crying while watching the movie ♡
It has a calm and soothing atmosphere.
Then, there's the ending version of "Remember Me," sung by the artist Shishido Kavka ♡
With a clear and uplifting voice, the overall vibe is happy and bright.
Even with the same lyrics, each of the four versions has its own personality, and they are all simply wonderful ♩
Here's the English version. It was even nominated for an Academy Award (for Best Original Song) ♡
Song 2 from Coco: "Un Poco Loco"
"Un Poco Loco" is sung by Ernesto de la Cruz ♡
It's a ballad played in a video that Miguel secretly watches, hidden from his family who hates music.
At the end of the song, de la Cruz says, "I would reach for my dreams and grasp them tightly to make them a reality." It's a great scene with a memorable line ♡
The song starts at 1 minute and 48 seconds*
Song 3 from Coco: "Proud Corazón"
"Proud Corazón" is sung by Miguel's great-great-grandfather, Hector ♡
It's a somewhat bittersweet and melancholic short piece sung by Hector, who lives alone in the Land of the Dead.
Naohito Fujiki's voice is both cool and gentle, making it wonderful*
Song 4 from Coco: "Un Poco Loco"
"Un Poco Loco" is the first song that Miguel and Hector perform together in front of an audience ♡
It's exciting to see the two collaborate on stage, unaware that they are blood relatives.
With a bright and happy melody, it would also make for great background music during conversations.
Song 5 from Coco: "Music is My Family"
"Music is My Family" starts with the phrases "Welcome everyone, hello, good evening!" and is also a lovely song ♡
Miguel's cheerful and crystal-clear voice is soothing to listen to.
The song starts at 6 minutes and 39 seconds*
Song 6 from Coco: "La Llorona"
"La Llorona" is a passionate, sexy, and powerful song sung by Hector's wife, Imelda ♡
Yatsuko Matsuyuki's voice is so cool...!
It features a duet with de la Cruz partway through.
Song 7 from Coco: "The Music Will Never End"
"The Music Will Never End" is the happy ending song that plays during the film's climax ♡
It is moving to see both living and deceased family members singing together, centered around Miguel!
It's a song that makes you think, "What a fantastic movie!" ♡
Coco is full of beautiful songs ♡
