There are three types of Sembikiya.
Sembikiya famous for its fruit parlor.
You may see Sembikiya shops everywhere, such as in department stores, stations, and airports, but did you know that not all Sembikiya are the same? In fact, there are three different types of shops.
The three types of Sembikiya are:
① The oldest Sembikiya Sohonten (the main store is in Nihonbashi)
② Kyobashi Sembikiya, which was separated from Sembikiya Sohonten
③ Ginza Sembikiya, which was also separated from Sembikiya Sohonten
Each of these is a separate company. While they all share the same name and brand of Sembikiya, there are slight differences among them.
This article features Ginza Sembikiya♡
It is said to have the cutest packaging among all the Sembikiya shops!♡
Ginza Sembikiya's packaging is light blue with flower patterns♡
The wrapping paper of Ginza Sembikiya features a bright bluish-green color with rose patterns. This historical design was conceived at the "New Ginza Sembikiya" store, which was established in 1947.
(It was created by a person named Yoshinobu Saito)
The red roses depicted on this wrapping paper became a symbol of Ginza Sembikiya, and now they are even used for Christmas tree ornaments♩
It’s amazing that a design created over 80 years ago still looks stylish today*
I can’t throw away the cans or wrapping paper*
Ginza Sembikiya was the first among Sembikiya to start in-store dining.
Therefore, it has the strongest characteristics of a fruit parlor among Sembikiya.
The most famous item is the fruit sandwich.
Of course, you can enjoy it in-store, but many people seem to take it home because the takeout box is so cute♡
Even the cans of candy and jelly are this adorable.
You can have even a single fruit compote put into such a cute paper bag*
For gifts, it is also possible to put a traditional Japanese gift wrapping (noshi) on top of this cute wrapping paper. When purchasing in-store, the paper bag also features this rose pattern♡
Ginza Sembikiya has only three locations: the Ginza main store, the Shinjuku store (Keio Department Store, Noren Street), and the Tsukiji store, but there is also an online shopping site available for your convenience♡
So, if you're thinking of giving Sembikiya as a gift to someone in the future, please remember that “Ginza Sembikiya has the cutest packaging!”♩
