Introducing the cast & voice actors ♡

For those who have already seen Aladdin and those who will be seeing it soon, aren’t you curious about the actors and actresses who play the characters in the movie?

I always look up the actors who played the characters that caught my attention after watching a movie.

By learning about their backgrounds and careers, I feel like the characters become even more appealing, relatable, and I can enjoy the depth of the work ♡

So, in this article, I will introduce the cast of the live-action Aladdin along with the Japanese voice actors who dubbed the film♩

Live-action Aladdin Cast ① Aladdin

The protagonist Aladdin is played by Mena Massoud (27).

He is an actor from Cairo, Egypt, raised in Canada since he was three years old.

His previous notable work was in the Amazon TV series "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan," and he was almost unknown overseas…!

However, he became famous after winning the audition for the role of Aladdin ♡

To prepare for the role of Aladdin, he practiced singing and dancing, riding camels, and even scuba diving before filming.

The Japanese voice of Aladdin is provided by Tomoya Nakamura (32).

He has appeared in many well-known works, including the morning drama "Hanbun, Aoi," "Holiday Love," and "The Day I Read This on My First Love." He is now a hot topic as a chameleon actor.

He also has extensive stage experience, including the musical "RENT" ♩

Live-action Aladdin Cast ② Jasmine

The heroine Jasmine is played by Naomi Scott (26).

She is an actress with a British father and an Indian mother with Ugandan roots.

Although she has the name Naomi, it seems she has no particular connection to Japan. However, she played a Japanese character named Ryoko in the movie "The Martian."*

With appearances in Disney Channel's "Life Bites" and "Lemonade Mouth," she has deep connections with Disney.

Her exotic cuteness is charming, and she has released CDs ♩

In her private life, she married professional soccer player Jordan Spence in 2014 ♡

She reportedly appeared at the premiere event held in Berlin with her husband.

She also serves as an ambassador for the Christian charity organization "Compassion UK," which supports children in poverty.

The Japanese voice of Jasmine is done by Haruka Kinoshita (20).

She has been playing Juliet in the stage production of "Romeo and Juliet" since 2017 and is already a well-known actress in the musical world.

We can expect to see her more on television from now on ♩

Live-action Aladdin Cast ③ Genie

Playing the Genie, who was a concern regarding how he would be presented in the live-action, is the well-known Will Smith (50).

After his Genie look was revealed, he became a hot topic online as "the blue Will Smith," right? ♩

Will Smith, from Pennsylvania, is one of the box-office stars whose films are mega-hits.

His representative works include "Men in Black," "The Pursuit of Happyness," "Independence Day," and "I Am Legend" ♩

The song "Friend Like Me," sung by the Genie in the movie, had a new hip-hop arrangement for this film,

and it was created by none other than Will Smith himself, who is also a rapper!

Isn’t that amazing? ♩

The Japanese voice of the Genie is provided by the legendary voice actor Koichi Yamadera (58).

He reprised the role of the Genie from the 1993 animated version in the live-action film.

The character Genie is what made Yamadera think, "Voice acting is difficult, but it's incredibly fun!" for the first time.

Live-action Aladdin Cast ④ Jafar

Jafar, the villain who schemes to rule the kingdom of Agrabah as the grand vizier, is played by Marwan Kenzari (36), who is from the Netherlands.

He also has roots in Tunisia.

His representative works include "Murder on the Orient Express" and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor."

He won the Shooting Stars Award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2014, and he is an actor to watch for future achievements.*

The Japanese voice of Jafar is provided by Kazuki Kitamura (49), who is in high demand for dramas and films.

This is his second time doing voice acting since the movie "Precure," where he enjoyed the challenge of voicing a villain.

Live-action Aladdin Cast ⑤ Sultan

The role of Jasmine's father, King Sultan, is played by Navid Negahban (51).

He is an actor originally from Iran, known for his works such as "American Sniper," "Until The Day She Awakens," and "Spy Mission: Syria’s Conspiracy."

Although he has a white beard in the film, I was surprised to find out he is 51 years old and in the same generation as Will Smith...!

The Japanese voice of Sultan is provided by Takayuki Sugo (66).

He is a veteran voice actor who has appeared in various animes, including "Space Battleship Yamato," "Yu Yu Hakusho," "Lupin III," and "One Piece." ♩

Live-action Aladdin Cast ⑥ Dalia

The character Dalia, Jasmine's maid and best friend, is played by Nasim Pedrad (37).

Dalia is an original character in the movie ♩

The friendship scenes with Jasmine and the scenes where she falls in love with that character were performed naturally, despite being an original character.*

The Japanese voice of Dalia is done by the voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro (34).

She is well known for her role as Fujiko Mine in "Lupin III."
