Of course, taste and appearance are important, but if you can feel a unique story behind those sweets, it becomes even more special.
This time, we introduce exciting Japanese sweets that capture people's hearts.
It's the "The Magic of Sugar" series created by Yamato-ya, a long-established wagashi shop located in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture.
What is the concept of "The Magic of Sugar"?
Yamato-ya was established in 1778, boasting over 240 years of tradition.
We wanted to present concrete forms and narratives that resonate with young people, allowing them to learn more about the charm of wagashi. That’s the passion behind the creation of "The Magic of Sugar" series.
The dried sweets are inspired by familiar toys such as kaleidoscopes, crayons, traditional marbles, and building blocks, evoking a sense of nostalgia.
These sweets not only appeal to children but also pique the playful spirit of adults.
In fact, many adult women are purchasing them for themselves.
The "The Magic of Sugar" series was created by the elder sister of Yamato-ya and her sister's husband.
Both sisters are currently struggling with parenting. The ideas may have emerged from their daily experiences of raising children ♡
The product packaging design and photography are also done as a family, adding a heartfelt touch.
All items in the series are long-lasting dried sweets, lasting about two months, making them perfect for gifts or souvenirs.
