Captivating Beauty of "Boutis"
Created only from thread and fabric, it has a sculptural three-dimensionality. This beautiful embroidery is a traditional craft called "boutis" from southern France.
Boutis is a traditional embroidery from Provence that has been passed down since around the 17th century. This three-dimensionality is achieved by stitching two layers of fabric together and filling the space between them with cotton yarn.
Essentially, both the fabric and thread are white (or of the same color), yet this relief-like shading is a skill achieved through its three-dimensional construction.
It's so beautiful, so please take a look at the works*

Boutis placemats.
Boutis placemats beautifully accentuate the plates and dishes placed on them.
The fluffy finish is quite similar to quilting.

Drawn into the Charm of Boutis
The beauty of boutis is mesmerizing to behold.
The process of deciding on a design, embroidering it, and filling it with yarn involves very intricate needlework.
Even for those experienced, it is said to take about a year and a half to create something the size of a tablecloth.
(The tighter and more securely you stitch, the more beautifully three-dimensional it will be. Conversely, if you stitch loosely, the bumps will be fewer, and the resulting piece will have less dimensionality.)
The tightly, carefully stitched three-dimensional boutis is breathtakingly beautiful.
It would be wonderful to incorporate such elegant "fabric sculptures" into daily life♡
