Dreaming of Resin Place Cards ♡
Transparent and stylish resin place cards that are see-through ♡
They look similar to acrylic place cards, but of course, the method of making and the properties are completely different. Acrylic uses acrylic sheets, so the processing methods are limited to "cutting out with laser processing" or "writing on top with a marker," and especially cutting out with a laser requires specialized machines, making it quite difficult.
In contrast, resin is crafted by pouring liquid into a mold and hardening it (imagine making ice), so as long as you have a mold, you can freely customize it at home, which is its charm*
There are various methods depending on the materials used, but to roughly outline the basic way to make resin place cards, here’s the flow:
① Prepare the materials
<Materials>
Mold
Resin liquid
UV lamp
Cleaner for wiping (acetone-free, non-acetone)
Things you want to embed in the resin
② Pour the resin into the mold
③ Place the items you want to trap (like flowers) into the mold
④ Cure with UV light
⑤ After a certain amount of time, wipe away any uncured resin with a cleaner
Some materials can cure without being exposed to the UV lamp, so feel free to use your preferred method.
The resin that does not need to be cured with a UV light is called “Crystal Resin NEO,” but it takes over 24 hours to cure, so this one takes longer in terms of time.
(If using a UV light, about 5 minutes is a guideline.)
If the mold is made of silicone, it is recommended to use "silicone release agent" before pouring in the resin, as it makes it easier to remove from the mold.
