Bride's Troubles相談★

Due to chemotherapy, my hair has fallen out, and now I have a very short haircut.

I am thinking of using a wig for my wedding, but will it work well to add a wig or extensions and style them with my very short hair?

If there are any individuals who have worn a wig or extensions and successfully styled very short hair for their wedding, I would love to hear from you.

Nice to meet you! ♡ I had my wedding in November of this year.

I was born with a condition called congenital hypotrichosis, which means my hair never grew and has always been short.

I lived my life without wearing wigs.

I was very worried about my hairstyle for the wedding day, but I decided to be myself, so I wore a flower crown under my veil instead of a wig during the ceremony.

For the reception, I wore a long wig that was styled beautifully. It looked very cute and felt natural.

If you discuss your needs in advance, the hairstylist will consider options for you.

I’m also a bride-to-be fighting cancer, and I’m having similar concerns!

My wedding is a year away, and right now my hair is only about 2cm long, but I hope it grows out nicely enough so I can wear short hair for the reception and a wig for the ceremony.

I checked with the makeup team at the wedding venue, and they told me that as long as I use a heat-resistant wig, it can be styled which is not an issue 😊

I haven't seen many brides-to-be with cancer on Instagram (I also keep my illness private in my posts), so if possible, I would appreciate the shared experiences from accepted brides! 💓

[Response 3]

Congratulations on your wedding! 🎉

I personally do not have experience with wigs, but I wanted to show my support.

I wore my hair down for my colored dress, but I think it’s totally fine to curl a wig!

(I even think a wig might look better than my damaged, frizzy hair...)

I was told that if my hair length was shorter than my ideal, I could use clip-ins.

Please ask your stylist if they can create the hairstyle you want! 🥰

[Response 4]

Since this is not from my personal experience, it’s totally fine if you don’t find it helpful…

There was something I wanted to do at my wedding but couldn’t.

I wanted to "debut with short hair during the outfit change."

I wanted to chop off my long hair that I grew for five years and re-enter the venue.

However, due to the limited time for the outfit change, it was difficult to cut my hair in between, so they suggested wearing a short wig initially.

I was impulsively excited to do it, but when I realized I couldn’t, I felt a mental block, and I was hesitant as well because of the effort I put into my long hair and my lack of confidence in how short would suit me.

However, I think it would be incredibly cute to have a long hairstyle for the ceremony and then show up in a short hairstyle with a flower crown in a colorful dress for the reception!

If you’re considering a wig, I think wearing it during the ceremony is lovely since you'll have a veil, and guests won’t be close for long periods. It might be wonderful to switch to short hair afterward! ❤

I’m sure there’s a sense of sadness or disappointment in parting ways with the long hair you’ve always envisioned as part of the bride concept.

But I believe there will definitely be beautiful opportunities that can only be experienced this way. I hope you have an exceptionally happy day!

This is about a friend’s wedding, but she just recently cut her long hair to short and then got pregnant!

Due to her parents’ hopes, her wedding unexpectedly became during her pregnancy, so they had to plan quickly.

Since it was a Disney wedding, she was worried, saying, "I want to wear a princess-like dress, but I have short hair…" but she had advice from the hairstylist and wore extensions for the wedding!

Because it was done by a professional, it didn’t look unnatural at all, and the bride was very satisfied with it!

Plus, it gave a fresh look to the regular short-haired friend when people saw her with long hair, which I thought was nice!

[Response 6]

Think about the hairstyle you want for your wedding day, and if it suits your current very short hair, then keep it short.

If you want a hairstyle that wouldn't work with very short hair, then I think you could utilize wigs or add-ons!

While it's important for guests to see you as a bride and for photos, what matters most is that you feel you want to do your best on the day (*^^*)

[Response 7]

If a wig looks natural in an updo, I’ll wear it for the ceremony and do a short hairstyle for the outfit change!

Stay positive and have fun with both styles! 😆

[Response 8]

I am also planning to get married next year.

I’m currently growing out my hair (not due to illness, just my own choice), but I’m contemplating going for a very short style!

Because there are so few short-haired brides, I think it would leave a memorable impression on everyone!

Plus, adding a large dried flower to a very short hairstyle would be extremely cute, so I think it’s perfectly fine to keep the very short hair!!!

[Response 9]

I see you are undergoing treatment. I’m cheering for you…!

Regarding hairstyles, the wigs available now look more natural than before and come in a wide variety of colors. There are even hairstylists who specialize in styling wigs for cosplayers.

If you believe that having longer hair would look better, utilizing those options could be a possibility. Personally, I think very short-haired brides are cool and beautiful.

I believe it’s fine to prioritize what you want to do. I wish you a swift recovery!

[Response 10]

I’m a hairstylist who prepares for weddings 🙌

I’ve previously worked with a bride who was not undergoing cancer treatment but used a partial wig.

It’s hard for me to say without seeing your current length or style, but a wig or hair accessories can work wonders! 👍💕

If your stylist says, "That won’t work!" or brings in negative comments, I think it’s okay to consider changing stylists for your peace of mind. I’m wishing for your beautiful bride look! 💕

[Response 11]

If it were me, I’d go for the hairstyle I’ve always dreamed of! If it’s a hairstyle that can only be achieved with long hair, then I would use a wig!

Those who had originally short hair but wish to have long hair for their wedding would choose a wig. I think it’s the same concept!

I sincerely pray for your health to improve. I hope your wedding will be wonderful!

[Response 12]

I’ve always lived with wigs, so I will style my wedding with a wig!

(My wedding is planned for next year.)

I also did pre-shoots in traditional wear, and the hairstylist did a fantastic job styling me ☺️ I think it's reassuring to have consultations and preparations in advance!

[Response 13]

When I was about to get married, I asked my hairstylist about extensions!

They said they aren’t recommended as they can be difficult to conceal, and added hair (like a clip-in) would look better for volume! ✨

I didn’t ask about full wigs, but since your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, please have several meetings with your hairstylist until you feel satisfied! (^^)

[Response 14]

A friend who attended my wedding on November 10 had hair length that had only grown out from being bald after cancer treatment.

I also considered many options regarding hairstyles and asked my friend, who is a hairstylist, to help with hair styling.

On the day, she came in with a beautifully styled long wig.

The hairstyle was relaxed around the face and nape, cleverly avoiding any traces of wig, so nobody knew she was wearing one.

Since it takes time to style a wig, I recommend allowing enough time for the setup.

Also, make sure that your hair is placed securely under the wig so nothing peeks out.

My friend had her wig shampooed and styled properly before wearing it, and then she had it arranged on the day.

I would suggest not to change hairstyles with the same wig on wedding day; instead, preparing two wigs to have it styled differently could be a good strategy.

With so many angles to capture photos, I think it’s great to have friends check out the look too.

Wishing you an amazing wedding day! ♡

Is it strange to wear a wig because my hair is short?

Here are all the responses to the question of whether or not wearing a wig would look unnatural.
