Easily Buyable Yet Delightful Souvenirs*
With the approaching New Year's holidays, have you decided on a gift to bring home during your visit to your family?
You’ll be meeting family, relatives, and friends, so a souvenir is necessary. But since you likely don't have the time to shop specifically for this, it would be great if you could buy delicious and delightful items easily at a station when you take a train or plane.
In this article, I will introduce Tokyo souvenirs that can be bought at Tokyo Station, Shinagawa Station, and Haneda Airport, which are commonly used during home visits.*
I’ve only picked items that I have personally tried and loved.
〜〜〜Tokyo Station〜〜〜
First, let's look at souvenirs available at Tokyo Station♡
① Fairycake Fair
Fairycake Fair is a cute little cupcake shop located within the GranSta at Tokyo Station.
Their popular cupcakes feature fancy animal motifs and strawberries topped with white cream flowers♡
True to the Tokyo Station theme, they also offer a watermelon penguin cupcake, making it a highly interesting souvenir.
If you prefer something with a longer shelf life rather than fresh cakes, cookies shaped like the Tokyo Station building are also available and highly recommended.*
② AUDREY
Audrey’s famous strawberry bouquet sweets can also be purchased inside the GranSta at Tokyo Station.*
The ribbon madeleine is popular as well.
③ Flower Bavarois
The jelly embedded with edible flowers resembles a herbarium and is a beautiful flower bavarois.* It’s rare as it is sold only at Tokyo Station and Ikspiari across the country!
This item can be found just outside the ticket gate, located on the 1st floor of Tokyo Station Ichibangai, right after exiting the Yaesu North Exit.
④ RURU MARY'S
RURU MARY'S is a new brand from Mary Chocolate, with chic and girly packaging and worldviews. It is located in the KITTE immediately after exiting the Marunouchi side of Tokyo Station.*
They offer chocolate-coated sables, chocolate terrine, and gateau chocolate.*
⑤ Souke Minamoto Kicchoan
(Inside the ticket gate - GRANSTA)
Souke Minamoto Kicchoan is famous for its jellies made with whole seasonal fruits.
As a parent with a 2-year-old child, I find these jellies delicious and incredibly satisfying, plus they're a guilt-free option compared to cookies and cakes, making them suitable for families with young children.
〜〜〜Shinagawa Station〜〜〜
① Atelier Ukai
A confectionery shop from the Ukai group, known for their renowned “Tofu Restaurant Ukai,” is located inside the Ecute within the JR ticket gate.
Fresh cakes, puddings, and baked goods can be purchased here.*
The assortment of cookies looks like a jewelry box. The large tin is 5000 yen, and the small tin is 2500 yen.
The fresh cakes, which change with the seasons, are all very delicious!
The pudding comes in cute ceramic containers that I also love.
② Märchen
Sandwich House Märchen has 15 stores in Tokyo and also locations in Osaka and Kyoto. It is located at the delicatessen side of Ecute Shinagawa (across from Tsukada Farm's bento shop).
(There is also one located on the 1st floor of South Court in Tokyo Station)
Their variety of sandwiches, both savory and fruity, is exciting and generous in portions, making them great for sharing during family gatherings.*
They would make great souvenirs if you're bringing dishes to share during your home visit.
③ Shumai
Paopao sells freshly made meat buns, shumai, and gyoza. You can find it in Shinagawa Ecute. I personally love their shumai.
They have locations all over Japan. There's also one in Tokyo Station's premises and in Yokohama Station's west exit underground shopping area.
④ FOUNDRY
The cakes at FOUNDRY are made with seasonal fruits, so you’ll find a lot of strawberry cakes in spring and chestnut cakes in autumn... The seasonal fruits are used in tarts and shortcakes and prominently displayed in their showcase.
Their cakes have a big, dynamic appearance and are packed with flavor.*
They are a popular shop that usually has lines in the evening to nighttime.
There are also classic baked goods that have a decent shelf life and make good souvenirs.*
〜〜〜Haneda Airport (Domestic Terminal)〜〜〜
Next up are souvenirs for those taking flights home. Here are some items I often buy at Haneda Airport's Domestic Terminal.
① Ladurée
Not widely known, but there is a quietly hidden Ladurée cart in Haneda Airport's Terminal 1.*
While cakes cannot be bought here, macarons, tea, and other goods are available. The designs of Ladurée's tea tins are cute, making them delightful to receive.
② Sembikiya Sohonten
I often buy from Sembikiya located in Terminal 2.
Their fruit jellies and almond tofu are luxurious and delicious.
They also have omelets.
By the way, Sembikiya Sohonten is also located at Shinagawa Station, and Souke Minamoto Kicchoan is found at Haneda Airport as well.
③ Pastel Dessert
Everyone loves Pastel's pudding. There is a store in Terminal 2 of Haneda Airport, featuring an exclusive airport design.*
It has a cute appearance of an airplane flying.
④ Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
In Terminal 2, you’ll find Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, but the one at Haneda Airport is a collaborative shop with Mercedes-Benz.
It is located inside Mercedes me Tokyo HANEDA, and the Benz logo on top of the doughnuts adds a special touch. How about gifting this to a car-loving dad or nephew?
⑤ Mameya Kanazawa Bankyu
If you're looking for a slightly firmer traditional brand, there are castella souvenirs available. Mameya Kanazawa Bankyu's castella features gold leaf and is moldable.
I recommend their airplane-shaped castella, which is exclusive to Haneda Airport. Small children would likely enjoy cutting them out.
Souvenirs You’ll Want to Eat Yourself
I have introduced my favorite souvenirs that can be quickly bought at the Shinkansen stations or airports during home visits.
✅ Tasty items
✅ Cute items
✅ Things kids would enjoy
✅ Items that are guilt-free for parents to feed their children
I selected these based on these points.
If you don’t have time to shop ahead but find ordinary brands or tasteless snacks a bit boring, I hope this serves as a helpful reference!♡
