Stylish People Already Recognize its Charm: A Cute Bouquet Feature on the Sparkling and Mystical Plant "Lunaria"
2020.08.27 published
Do You Know "Lunaria"?
Have you heard of this translucent plant called "Lunaria"?
It has recently become popular as a bouquet material, so many of you might say, "I've seen this before!"*
<About Lunaria>
The name Lunaria is derived from the Latin word "Luna," which means "moon." It truly resembles a full moon floating in the sky, doesn't it?*
In Japanese, it is called "Goudasou," named after Mr. Kiyoshi Goda, who brought the seeds from France to Japan.
It produces flat seed pods that split open when ripe, dropping the small seeds and the two outer pods, leaving behind a thin membrane that looks like a separator in the middle.
When dried, it becomes such a beautiful dried flower! ♡
To turn Lunaria into a beautiful dried flower,
① Grow the Lunaria until it withers
② Remove the pods and seeds that haven't fallen
③ Bleach the Lunaria
Quite a challenging process is required.
It doesn't naturally become a sparkling beautiful dried flower; it changes beautifully through human hands.
Therefore, in the flower industry, there seems to be a difference: "Japanese Lunaria is beautiful but expensive," while "Overseas Lunaria is not as beautiful as Japanese ones but cheaper."
(This is overseas Lunaria. I think it was just soaked in bleach without removing the pods and skin.)
The finish of the Lunaria varies depending on its color (whether it is bleached or not) and the presence or absence of seeds, so when asking a florist or searching and purchasing it yourself, make sure to check the quality carefully.
Next, let me introduce some cute Lunaria bouquets! ♡
