A Stylish Soap Shop Has Opened in Lumine Shinjuku♡
When you think of a "soap shop," what comes to mind?
Perhaps the classic choice is Sabon, right?
In this article, I will introduce a unique and stylish soap brand that is known to those in the know.
This brand, called "Claus Porto," opened its first store in Lumine 1, Shinjuku in March 2020♡
The colors of the soaps are adorable, and the variety of wrapping paper is also incredibly cute♡
This is a love-at-first-sight kind of look.
A Fusion Brand of Germany and Portugal*
Let me introduce you to this soap brand "Claus Porto" in more detail.
First of all, this brand was established in 1887 (more than a century ago!) by two German gentlemen living in Portugal.
The soap and fragrance factory created by Ferdinand Claus and Georges Schauder was the first and only one in Portugal at that time.
The fragrant components made from Portuguese plants were elegant and refined, making hand-made soaps a local sensation.
After winning a gold medal at the St. Louis World's Fair, Claus Porto became globally recognized as "the highest quality soap with wonderful scents and great usability."
The smooth soaps, still crafted using the same meticulous methods as in the past, hold their shape without melting away.
(The colors are cute too♡)
Until now, the brand had two direct stores in Portugal and one in New York. In addition, they were available only in luxury hotels and high-end select shops. In Japan, aside from the Lumine 1 in Shinjuku, they can also be found in various stores.

The Packaging is Hand-Wrapped.
In a world where mass production by machines is advancing, Claus Porto values the old-fashioned time and effort put into the product creation process, which is the charm of the brand.
The wrapping paper that immediately catches the eye features original hand-drawn patterns by the brand.
The patterns are influenced by the rich culture before the Republic of Portugal and the splendid aesthetics of the bygone eras of Europe.
The unique patterns that blend European and Asian styles are wonderful♡ In the Portuguese stores, the past patterns can be seen on display.
It’s like a museum.
Here’s the scoop.
What’s noteworthy is that it is **hand-wrapped**.
This wrapping, a pride of Claus Porto, is done manually one by one.
Finally, with sealing wax. Each one is pressed to completion.
The quality is impeccable, and the entire concept is a delightful soap gift.
The Soap Set Looks Like Sweets or Jewels.
The price of the soap is 1,430 yen for the 50g size. The larger 150g size is priced at 2,420 yen.
You can purchase just one, so it’s fine to give just one as a gift, but even more wonderful is the assortment.
For example, you can send a box packed full of beautifully packaged colorful soaps♡
Additionally, the colorful, round, and flat soap assortment "Iris" looks just like the sweets "Mizuno-iro," and it’s incredibly cute.
This small-sized soap is said to be "guest soap." The idea is just too stylish.
It comes in a set of 15 pieces of 10g each for 3,960 yen*
Next time you're choosing a gift, consider this♡
I didn't know about "Claus Porto" before, but with its rich history and stunning packaging, it’s bound to make everyone’s eyes turn to hearts when received as a gift♡
The soaps not only work well but are also priced reasonably from about 1,500 yen, making it easy to choose for gifts.
They are also available for purchase on Rakuten. Please consider them for your next gift selection♩
