Shiny and Glossy Petals: Spotlight on the Adorable Ranunculus Variety "Lux" ♡
2021.04.10 published
Everyone is saying, "What is this? So cute♡"
This flower is cute, isn't it?
This flower is called "Lux," and surprisingly, it is a type of ranunculus.

Since it looks completely different from the typical ranunculus, many people must be surprised and think, "Wait?? Is this a ranunculus?"
The typical ranunculus is known for having about 100 petals attached to each flower, making it one of the flowers with the most petals in the world.
(The yellow flower in the foreground is a ranunculus!)
But...
Lux has fewer petals...
It looks completely different, right?
A new type of ranunculus♡
In fact, Lux is a relatively new flower that was created through breeding.
In the past in Japan, ranunculus was mostly enjoyed as cut flowers and was not suitable for growing in gardens.
(The original ranunculus is a plant that comes from the Mediterranean area, Iran, and Israel, and it cannot survive Japan's hot and humid summers and winters.... that is the reason)
This is where Lux came into the picture.
Once it was discovered that this new ranunculus created by a producer in Miyazaki (Aya Gardening) was suitable for potting and gardening, the number of Lux flower fields in Japan rapidly increased♡
And as it was enjoyed for gardening, it also became popular as a cut flower♡
This flower has a rare history of being chosen as bouquet material in a completely opposite order compared to typical ranunculus (?)
The price is slightly higher than regular ranunculus. (About 3 to 4 times higher per stem!)
However, while a regular ranunculus has one flower per stem, Lux is characterized by having multiple flowers blooming in a spiral pattern on a single stem.
(It’s similar to cosmos*)
The cute-shaped flowers blooming in a bunch are irresistibly cute♡
