Do you know the name of this jelly you see on Instagram?
Do you know the name of the round jelly filled with flowers and fruits that you often see on Instagram in the summer?
This jelly is called "Kowloon Ball (クーロンキュウ)" and it originated in Hong Kong♡
Kowloon Ball is also known as "edible marbles," featuring a beautiful and refreshing appearance♡ It’s perfect for the upcoming season, isn’t it?♩
You can almost hear the voice of Hikomoro saying, "It's a treasure box of jelly~~~~!"...!!!
<How to Make Kowloon Balls>
◆ Things you will need
・ 2 tablespoons of sugar
・ 200cc of water
・ 2g of agar powder
(You can also make this with gelatin or agar. Agar has the highest transparency*)
・ Your favorite fruits, edible flowers, mint, etc. to put inside
・ Round ice cube tray
◆ Instructions
① Cut the fruits and flowers to fit into the ice cube tray. If you cut them to about 70-80% of the tray size, it will create a cute jelly packed with fruits♡
② In a pot, combine the water, agar powder, and sugar, and dissolve well (until it boils).
③ Place the fruits and flowers into the ice cube tray, pour in the liquid made in step 2, and let it set in the refrigerator. If you pour in enough liquid to the point of overflowing, it will create a nice round shape*
If you cool it too much, the transparency will decrease, so it's best to keep an eye on it and let it chill for about 40 minutes to an hour*
Kowloon Ball Variations ♡
Kowloon Balls made with agar instead of kanten. Using agar gives it a high transparency and beauty♡ This one includes mandarin oranges, kiwi, strawberries, and peaches*
A "kanten on kanten jelly" made by mixing edible colorings with kanten and chopping it up – it looks like sparkling crystals and is beautiful!
Putting them in a glass looks refreshing. I want to add soda and enjoy it like a fruit punch♡
A sakura jelly soda with cherry blossoms inside♡
It's really wonderful*
An exceptionally vibrant Kowloon Ball with watermelon and edible flowers* This would be perfect as part of a wedding welcome space or as a dessert buffet menu that is sure to grab attention!
(It would be amazing if the flowers could match the wedding theme or bouquet...!)
A Kowloon Ball with Snoopy's face drawn on a peach! I wonder what was used to draw Snoopy's face...? It would be a shame to eat it...!
A Kowloon Ball stuffed tightly with pansies♡
Adding star sprinkles used for cake decoration for a festive touch♡ Some even made a Dragon Ball by using red stars and coloring the agar mixture orange!
I want to try it for Tanabata too*
Coloring it with just shaved ice syrup without any fruits or flowers♡ The pink, lavender, and blue unicorn colors are adorable♩
