2020.07.07 published
I Want to Go on a Pre-Honeymoon in Japan ♡
In This Era with COVID-19.
The situation continues where overseas honeymoons have to be postponed, which is heartbreaking....
I can't help but sigh at the thought of when we'll ever be able to go on our honeymoon 😢. To all the brides who feel this way, here’s a suggestion ♡
How about going on a domestic trip to a nice accommodation in Japan as a "pre-honeymoon" before your overseas honeymoon?
Even accommodations that you might think are "a bit too luxurious for a regular stay" can be enjoyed without reservation if you think of it as a pre-honeymoon. Plus, since you're in Japan, you don't have to worry about food not suiting your taste or suffering from jet lag*
It’s a great opportunity to stay at that “a bit luxurious accommodation you’ve always wanted to try” ♩
In this article,
✅ Kanto region
✅ Budget around 100,000 yen for two (one night with meals)
✅ Emphasis on cuisine
✅ Cozy rooms for relaxation
I’ll introduce some recommended accommodations*
Please use it as a reference for your domestic honeymoon ♡

【Kanagawa・Hakone】Hakone Ginyu
The first accommodation I’d like to introduce is “Hakone Ginyu” located in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. The main charm of Hakone Ginyu is the magnificent scenery of the Hakone mountain range ♡
This breathtaking view can be seen from the lobby, showcasing beautiful scenery throughout the seasons*
Every room is equipped with an open-air bath and a dining room, so you can actually spend a relaxing time completely alone without leaving the room ♡
The interior is laid with tatami mats even in the hallways, which is a delightful point since you can walk around in tabi (traditional Japanese socks). It feels as though the entire ryokan has become your own villa, allowing you to relax ♩
【Kanagawa・Hakone】Gora Kadan
“Hakone Gora” is a historic ryokan renovated from a villa built by Prince Kōkyo-in (Koto Hito) for his summer retreat.
The spacious grounds of about 10,000 tsubo feature a Japanese garden and “Kaiseki Ryori Kadan,” a restaurant that has restored the villa, making walking around the ryokan one of its joys.
The “column corridor” connecting the lobby to the moon-viewing platform is made of glass and spans an impressive 120 meters. Many may recognize this famous corridor from Instagram*
Gora Kadan also boasts three source springs, making it appealing even for those who love onsen hopping; you will surely be satisfied with the ryokan's baths alone ♡
【Nagano・Karuizawa】Hoshinoya Karuizawa
“Hoshinoya Karuizawa,” located in Karuizawa, is an inn that resembles a village in lush nature. It is built along the contours of the land to preserve the beautiful scenery of Karuizawa*
✅ “Mizunami no Heya” with a waterside terrace
✅ “Yamaji no Heya” surrounded by trees
✅ “Nijuroji no Heya,” a detached room with a feeling of openness
There are three types, and staying one night in each is a luxury*
Hoshinoya Karuizawa features a wealth of activities such as nature watching, horseback riding, and pottery making.
Enjoying activities during the day and soaking in the onsen while listening to the sound of flowing water at night… how wonderful that would be.

【Shizuoka・Izu】Arcana Izu
“Arcana Izu,” an auberge (a restaurant with accommodations) located in Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture.
The concept is "Emotional French" to add travel sentiment to the blessed land of Chū-Izu, where nature from the mountains and sea is abundant, with chef Yuma Itoi, who has worked under Fabien Le Feuvre, a French national master craftsman*
Dining in rich nature with abundant local mountain and sea delicacies is truly a blissful moment♡
All rooms offer spectacular views of the forest, with only 16 rooms, ensuring a high level of privacy. Each room is equipped with a private open-air bath (with natural hot spring flowing directly in♡).
There’s even a popular quirky service that offers "100 rubber ducks for floating in the bath" ♩
【Shizuoka・Atami】Sekai no E
“Sekai no E,” an ocean-view resort located in Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture. This inn feels so much like a resort that you might think you are in Monaco!*
(By the way, Atami is only a 45-minute train ride from Tokyo Station! Its accessibility is also attractive.)
Rooms feature a carefully selected flowing open-air bath, making it feel luxurious as if it connects to the sea (like an infinity pool*)
The rooms are mainly white, bright, and stylish. The beds are custom beds from Simmons, making it easy to want to just lounge around forever…!♡
【Yamanashi・Fuji】Hoshinoya Fuji
“Hoshinoya Fuji,” located near Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi Prefecture, has the concept of “Awakening the five senses, playing in the forest, and glamping in the hills.” The rooms, called “cabins,” have one-third of the property as a terrace, creating a pleasant space*
Hoshinoya Fuji is centered around glamping. Located along the hillside, there is a cloud terrace where you can make smoked dishes, cook with a Dutch oven, or even chop wood to make pizza*
It’s the perfect accommodation for outdoor enthusiasts or those looking to try outbound activities for the first time ♩
