"Collection of Real Bride-to-Be Responses: How Has COVID-19 Changed Your Wedding Plans?"

A bride's consultation.

I am planning to have my wedding in September. The wedding venue has proposed various infection control measures (such as keeping distance for group photos and not doing table rounds).
While I would like to hold the wedding as close to the usual style as possible, I also want to ensure that we are taking infection prevention measures.
What ideas or changes are you all planning to incorporate into your weddings as infection control measures?
I asked this question because I would like to have an article summarizing the thoughts of everyone who is about to have their wedding created by marry. Thank you very much.

Until the resolution of COVID-19, wedding venues and various organizations have established their own guidelines, but these are just that—guidelines.
They are not things that must be strictly adhered to, so we can discuss and decide how to proceed together.
In this article, we will introduce the responses of brides who have made or are planning to make changes to their weddings due to COVID-19.
【Response 1】
We will thoroughly implement masks, alcohol spray, and ventilation!
I anticipate that during the reception, there may be confusion about where to put masks or whose is which, so we are making a simple mask case for each person!
【Response 2】
We will eliminate the guestbook at the reception and only receive gifts and distribute seating charts.
【Response 3】
I have come to the idea of not being tied to the traditional form of weddings! It differs from the questioner's thoughts, though 💦
I will be reducing the number of guests from the original plan! Even with fewer people, I believe we can still have a fun and personal ceremony 😊
【Response 4】
I am also getting married in September. I completely understand your feelings.
I requested the venue to place acrylic panels on each table, but they said they could not guarantee it since it would need to be prepared by the venue itself.
Other measures include:
- Placing hand sanitizer
- Asking guests to refrain from pouring drinks for each other
- Having parents only greet guests without pouring drinks, just offering greetings.
They agreed to implement these measures 😌
We plan to conduct table rounds 😊 Currently, I am thinking of entering with hand sanitizer and having everyone sanitize before taking photos ☺️
I definitely want to take pictures 🥺
There are times when I feel down thinking if it's okay to have a wedding during this time, but let’s keep pushing forward 🥰🥰
【Response 5】
Unfortunately, I have canceled my wedding, but I will share what I would implement if it were to proceed 😊
Distributing cute masks to everyone or using them instead of place cards would be a nice idea to have everyone wear matching fun masks for photos!
Recently, there are stylish and cute masks available, as well as stickers you can put on masks ✨ Giving masks as petit gifts could also be nice!
Additionally, we might consider coming up with cute poses to take photos even while keeping our distance 📸
I hope you have a wonderful wedding 💕
【Response 6】
I am scheduled to have my wedding at the end of August.
The venue proposed the following measures:
- Temperature checks upon entry
- Providing alcohol
- Adding acrylic panels at the reception
- Constant ventilation in the venue
- Canceling parents' greeting rounds
- Handing out transportation fees and petit gifts from the bride and groom.
We plan to implement these suggestions. Additionally, I am considering requesting that guests wear masks except while eating and taking photos.
【Response 7】
I am also scheduled to have my wedding in September!
Instead of writing in the guestbook on the day, I included a guest card in the invitations for them to fill out in advance and bring on the day!
We plan to conduct table rounds! In the current era, we need to navigate with COVID-19 until vaccinations can be done, so we want to prepare thoroughly for the ceremony in September!
【Response 8】
We decided to forgo performances such as dances since they involve moving around!
Instead, we are thinking of games that guests can play while sitting and using their phones, as a substitute for entertainment (such as speed-typing the groom's phone number, speed texting on LINE, etc.).
【Response 9】
I also have my wedding scheduled for October. Since it’s a wedding with my classmates, I planned to have a fruit punch round during table rounds to evoke memories of our school lunches.
However, since having multiple guests touching food raises concerns about infection, we decided to cancel it.
There were worries about droplet infection during the food service at table rounds, leading us to eliminate the table rounds we were considering for another item.
Since we will not have table rounds, we extended the photo time at the head table. The head table offers more space than the guest tables, so we will invite guests from each table to the head table for socially distanced photography.
Initially, I felt down about not being able to do the performances I wanted, but I’m now thinking positively that I can get memorable photos with everyone on the expensive and cherished head table!
We also plan to implement various measures such as requiring everyone to wear masks during the ceremony, having guests bring their own hand sanitizers to the table, and changing the table settings to a maximum of five people.
【Response 10】
I’m also scheduled to have my wedding in September.
As a COVID-19 measure, we have divided the ceremony into two parts to reduce the number of people gathered at once.
We will start with a meal for family members, then have friends join during the ceremony, and the reception will be held with family and friends.
Additionally, we chose seating arrangements that do not face each other. For long tables, we arranged them alternately, and for round tables, we ensured guests are not seated directly opposite one another.
The venue suggested placing acrylic boards on guest tables, but I couldn’t help but feel sad about that for photos, so we decided against it.
We also plan to distribute alcohol spray to each individual for use.
I pray that everything goes smoothly on the day of the wedding.
No,
【Response 11】
I am scheduled to have my wedding in November.
- Providing alcohol for all guests
- No wedding cake (to avoid crowding during cutting and for hygiene reasons as it would have been presented in front of the bride, groom, and guests once)
- Installing acrylic boards when different guest groups share the same table.
- Providing disposable pens for everyone at the reception.
We plan to implement these measures!
I hope you can have a fantastic wedding.
I have shared all the responses I received from 11 individuals.
The anxiety about not being able to hold things as usual is immense.
Moreover, things don’t proceed smoothly, and every day feels out of control, something we cannot manage ourselves.
Some brides might have opened this article with anxiety.
I sincerely hope that everyone’s weddings can be held safely and happily, and that every day is filled with joy....!
All of us at marry are praying for you!
Must-have items to prepare for your wedding *
During this time, I believe guests will come to the wedding wearing masks, but they will need to take them off when the meal starts.
Leaving the mask on the table does not seem hygienic and can lead to confusion about whose mask is whose, so it's considerate to prepare a "mask case" for each person.*
We have created original mask cases at marry, and we would be delighted if you could make use of them♡
