I Don’t Want to! Fights About Household Chores in Marriage.

Household chores are often a source of conflict in married life.

Particularly for couples who start living together after getting married, many may feel anxious about how to manage the division of household chores.

Even small frustrations can accumulate and lead to significant arguments.

We all want to live happily together without fighting over chores...!

I am now in my fifth year of marriage, and the conclusion I have reached is to "rely heavily on home appliances."

In our household, both of us work full-time and we have children, so there isn't much time to dedicate to chores.

Therefore, we minimize the chores that have to be done manually as much as possible to reduce the burden.

Thanks to this, we no longer have arguments about housework, but in the early days of our marriage, we weren’t investing in appliances (we used the ones from my single days), and sometimes it led to arguments.

In this article, I will introduce "home appliances that I wish I had bought from the start of our marriage."

Many of these are standard appliances, but I hope it encourages those who are still hesitant about buying!

Top Ranking Home Appliance: Drum-Type Washing Machine

The number one appliance that I am glad I bought is the drum-type washing machine (with dryer)!!

If you have a limited budget and find it difficult to replace all your home appliances, definitely prioritize the drum washing machine.

Laundry is one of the chores that must be done every day.

You have to repeat the entire cycle of putting clothes in the washer → hanging them up → taking them down → folding them, every day for 365 days.

With a drum-type washing machine, you can skip the "hanging them up → taking them down" step, making it so much easier!

When I was using a washer without a drying function, I often forgot to hang up the laundry after running the machine, and then had to wash it again… but now I can have everything dried in one go, which is stress-free.

Not having to worry about the weather is also a plus.

While shirts and blouses need to be washed separately because they wrinkle, the overall stress about laundry has been reduced by about 90%.

Top Ranking Home Appliance: Dishwasher

Washing dishes is something that needs to be done twice on weekdays and more than three times on weekends.

I actually enjoy cooking, but I don’t like washing dishes, which has always weighed on me.

However, it was just two people's dishes, so it only took about 10 minutes, which made me think that perhaps a dishwasher wasn’t necessary… and I went for years without buying one.

Then by chance, I moved into an apartment with a dishwasher, and it was incredibly comfortable!

Just having to not wash dishes made me realize how easy it can be…!

While cooking, I can just load the dishes I won't use anymore into the dishwasher, keeping the sink clean.

Since the dishwasher washes everything, the use of small plates and bowls has increased.

I also wash baby bottles and dishes for baby food in the dishwasher, so now I run it 3-4 times on weekdays and 5-6 times on weekends.

I handle 100% of the washing, but thanks to the dishwasher, there are no complaints at all. (Otherwise, I definitely think we would have argued...)

Top Ranking Home Appliance: Hot Cook

While it’s manageable to prepare side dishes in advance, preparing main dishes ahead of time is quite difficult.

A savior during busy times is Sharp's "Healthio Hot Cook."

It became a hot topic on social media, so some of you might be curious about it.

The great thing about Hot Cook is that once you put the ingredients in, you can leave it alone.

If you prepare it in the morning, it will be ready by the time you get home, which is a big draw.

Even if there isn’t time to prepare in the morning, you can set it up upon returning home and use the cooking time to prepare side dishes or handle other chores.

You really only need to put in the ingredients and seasonings, so even someone with almost no cooking experience won’t fail.

The excuse of "I’ve never cooked" doesn’t hold up, so it might even help to start sharing cooking responsibilities.

Top Ranking Home Appliance: Electric Bicycle

Depending on the area you live in, but personally, I strongly wish I had purchased an electric bicycle during my newlywed days, or even before that!

Once you experience an electric bicycle, you can never go back to a regular one…

You can easily ride several kilometers without getting tired, making it very convenient for shopping.

Carrying heavy shopping bags in both hands while walking back from the supermarket is tough.

Riding an electric bicycle makes shopping and returning home significantly easier.

Your range of activities also expands beyond just walking, allowing you to become familiar with stores that are a little farther away, and growing to love the area you live in.

If You're Going to Buy, Do It Early.

So that concludes my recommendations for home appliances that I wish I had bought from the start of my marriage after five years.

These are standard appliances, but I feel that not many couples buy them from the beginning.

However, if you are going to buy them in the future anyway, I think it may be happier to buy them early, even if it requires some effort, to avoid fights caused by housework.

(Even if you calculate it daily, the cost per day becomes cheaper!)

Why not discuss with your partner which appliances would be necessary for your lifestyle?
