A Detergent That Cleans Better Than OxyClean!?
Have you heard of "that detergent," which has recently become popular on Instagram??
(Yes, the product name is literally "that detergent"!)
When it comes to detergents, OxyClean from the U.S. has been popular for a few years now. Soaking towels and kitchen items in OxyClean, known as "Oxy soaking," has become a cleaning staple that everyone does.
(I sometimes soak my bath towels in OxyClean, and the water turns a surprisingly brown color...! The typical odor of towels also disappears.)
"That detergent" is gaining attention as it is even more amazing than the popular OxyClean!!!
What kind of detergent is it, exactly??
Here Are The Effects You Can Expect*
That detergent is a weak alkaline detergent.
✅ Disinfection
✅ Bleaching
✅ Deodorizing
It is a multipurpose detergent ♡ (It’s made by a South Korean company!)
It does not use fluorescent brighteners, phosphates, colorants, or sodium hydroxide that can affect the environment or your skin, making it gentle on hands and suitable for use without gloves!
It's incredible that it effectively removes dirt while being safe to use with bare hands.
(OxyClean is advised not to be touched with bare hands.)
Here’s How You Can Use It*
That detergent comes in powder form. By soaking it in water or dissolving it to create a spray, it can be used for various purposes ♩
① Soaking (This is called "that soaking.")
Even stubborn oil stains (like those on pots and range hoods) can be easily cleaned using that detergent when soaked. Since it has disinfecting properties, it's also great for towels and cloths. You can soak kitchen items in the sink or even do a complete "that soaking" in the bathtub for a refreshing clean!
② Laundry
It also serves as an auxiliary laundry detergent. Just adding it to your washing machine along with your regular laundry detergent can reduce unpleasant odors!
③ Stain Removal
It works on yellowed collars and sleeves as well as food stains that occur over time.
④ Scrubbing
Apparently, it can effectively remove oil stains on bicycles and cars with a good scrub. (It can even help with rust removal!)
⑤ Dilute for Spray Use
You can dilute 1g of detergent in a 300ml spray bottle, making it very cost-effective!
Comparison with OxyClean!
Here’s a comparison post that looks at "that detergent" versus OxyClean.*
When mayonnaise, soy sauce, ketchup, and a Japanese-style dressing were smeared onto a towel and soaked in both that detergent and OxyClean (5g each) for 8 hours...
"That soaking" made the towel nearly pure white, while the Oxy soaking didn’t remove the Japanese dressing and ketchup!
OxyClean requires hot water to dissolve the powder, but that detergent dissolves effectively even in cold water, which is also a great point for convenience.
OxyClean costs about ¥1300 for 1.5kg, whereas that detergent costs about ¥1800 for 700g, so that detergent is about twice as expensive, but
✅ It cleans even with a small amount
✅ It is extremely cost-effective when transferred to a spray bottle (1g for 300ml)
So, many people seem to feel that overall, that detergent may provide better value for money…
