"Seating Arrangements for a Small Family Wedding: What to Do with Just Six People - Us and Our Parents!"
2021.05.28 published
We will hold a wedding reception for six family members ♡
In the case of a "family wedding" with just the two of us and our parents from both sides【only 6 people】.
What are your plans for the "seating arrangement"?
Depending on the wedding venue, there may be predefined patterns, so if nothing is specified, I think it will follow that format. Even with six people, there are several ways to sit, so I created this article in hopes of providing a reference with "Oh, there is also this seating arrangement."
(In fact, I also held a family ceremony with six people and did some research myself, but despite being called a family ceremony, there isn't much information available for six people as it often includes ten or more people with siblings and relatives, so I struggled.)
I hope this can be a reference for brides holding a wedding ceremony with their parents and themselves.
Seating Arrangement Pattern 1 for a Family Wedding of Six: Round Table
First, let’s introduce the seating arrangement with a round table.
The bride and groom sit side by side, with the fathers on either side of them, and mothers next to the fathers.
✅ Everyone can see each other's faces easily
✅ There is a friendly atmosphere
✅ The mothers from both sides can easily get along with each other
These are the benefits.
Seating Arrangement Pattern 2 for a Family Wedding of Six: Birthday Seat Style
Using a square or rectangular table, the bride and groom sit at the birthday seat, with the parents seated at both ends.
✅ The birthday seat resembles a main table, adding a wedding atmosphere (flowers can also be arranged!)
✅ The bride and groom can be viewed as a couple together
✅ It is easy to take photos
These are the benefits.
Seating Arrangement Pattern 3 for a Family Wedding of Six: Face-to-Face Style
A face-to-face style where both families face each other. In a face-to-face meeting, the fathers from both families sit in the honored seats, but at the wedding, the seating order is arranged as bride, groom, father, and mother from the honored seats.
✅ It seems to deepen family connections
✅ The seating arrangement puts both families closer than the birthday seat style
✅ It seems to give an elegant dinner party vibe with flowers that can be styled nicely
These are the benefits, but since the bride and groom will be seated apart, it might be difficult to take photos of the two of them.
Seating Arrangement Pattern 4 for a Family Wedding of Six: Bride and Groom Center Stage Face-to-Face Style
An application (??) of the face-to-face style, with the bride and groom sitting in the center.
✅ The bride and groom can easily lead the conversation
✅ Both parents can happily sit next to their daughter/son
These are the benefits, but again, the bride and groom are not seated next to each other, so it may be difficult to take photos of the two of them.
What kind of seating arrangement will you choose?
I have introduced various seating arrangements for holding a wedding with six family members.
✅ I want a friendly atmosphere and for both families to get along (or become friends)
➡ Round Table
✅ I want a wedding-like atmosphere and to have photos of the two of us
➡ Birthday Seat Style
✅ I want a formal and traditional atmosphere
➡ Face-to-Face Style
✅ I want to lead the conversation and value interactions with parents
➡ Bride and Groom Center Stage Face-to-Face Style
I think choosing among these options seems beneficial.
Depending on the size of the venue and whether there are tables that can accommodate the wedding venue, it may not be entirely possible to meet your requests. However, if there is a style you like, please consult with your planner ♡
