"I Used to Think They Were Unattractive, But... 6 Types of Flowers That Now Seem Stylish"
2021.04.19 published
I wonder why.....!
It’s mysterious how our sense of beauty or preference for flowers seems to change with age or the times, making certain things appear "cute."
There’s a famous saying, “Kojikoji will always be Kojikoji," but
tulips have always been tulips, and yet they seem cuter now than they did in the past, perhaps because they’re more fashionable now.
I used to think of flowers as red roses! Gerberas! but recently, I’ve found different types of flowers to be cute.
Even though they’re the same, have you ever felt that a flower somehow looks cute or slightly off...?
Doesn’t everyone...?
In this article, I’ve compiled a subjective list of flowers that I once thought were cute in the past.... but now look cute to me.
If you feel the same way recently, let’s be friends*
① Calla Lily
I used to think calla lilies were "not flowers since they have no petals at all, look like leeks, and I just couldn’t understand their charm."
But now, I find them elegant, stylish, and very beautiful and cute.
Is this newfound cuteness due to "changing times"...?
Were they always this fashionable, but I just didn't notice...?
Shorter calla lily bouquets like this are so adorable and pure with a Korean vibe*
② Casablanca Lily
A lily flower.
I used to associate them with "hotel lobbies" or "Japanese-style flowers," but recently, this large flower seems graceful, elegant, and lovable.
It’s amazing how just displaying a Casablanca lily on its own looks lovely without needing to combine it with other flowers.
A bouquet of just Casablanca lilies would surely be stunning.
③ Dendrobium Orchid
Here’s a dendrobium orchid.
I used to think of them as "tropical flowers, flowers for Hawaiian leis, or flowers on plates at BBQ restaurants," but now this pointed flower seems feminine and attractive.
I particularly love the white dendrobium orchids.
They’re pure, and when bundled together, they look luxurious, and you hardly feel the tropical vibe, right...?
When bundled together, they’re voluminous and stylish.
I want to decorate a high altar with them like this*
④ Anthurium
Similarly, I used to think "it feels too much like a resort, doesn’t look like a flower, and is it valuable in some sense....?"
But now, I find them cute and somehow trendy...???
(Is it actually trending...?)
Using anthuriums like this to make them stand out.
Just combining pink roses and anthuriums is a fresh idea!!
Or wrapping just one like this.
Isn’t this an unthinkable way to use anthuriums that you wouldn’t have considered in the past...?
There’s even a unicorn-colored anthurium that makes me feel like there’s a "trend for anthuriums" going on out there.
⑤ Phalaenopsis Orchid
Phalaenopsis orchids used to be strongly associated with "celebration flowers! a bit formal flowers!"
But recently they seem more fresh, adorable, and the shapes are unique and cute♡
(I believe many people feel the same way, what do you think?!)
I even made a dress out of phalaenopsis orchids because I thought they were cute...!
The white phalaenopsis orchids are cute, and the purple ones are cute too.
Rather than the flashy, celebratory arrangements typical of phalaenopsis orchids, creating a light, girlish arrangement is wonderful, right?
⑥ Celosia
Celosia got its name because it resembles a chicken's head.
Up until now, I thought of it as something that resembles a brain, but it definitely looks cuter than before.
For example, styling like this....!
Or using it as an accent like this.
Holding just celosia like this feels so stylish....!
Why did I find them unattractive until now....
Has the times changed?
Or did I just happen to notice now?
Somehow, there are flowers that "seem cuter than before."
I wonder if my lack of knowledge is part of the reason...?! But I hope many others feel the same way too!
I’d be happy to continue discovering the charms of various flowers♡
