The other day, I had the opportunity to talk with the coordinator from a dress shop that handles marry's dresses.

It was during a discussion about wedding shoes that match the dress.

"Recently, there are more brides choosing fashion-brand shoes with jeweled buckles or big ribbons.

But when it comes to ease of walking, classic bridal shoes are still the best."

I was shocked when I heard that.

Are shoes with something at the toes difficult to walk in?!

The coordinator told me,

"Well, if there are jewels or anything on the toes, they can get caught in the skirt of the dress.

It's quite common for the metal clasps of the jewels to snag on the fabric of the dress.

There are cases where a bride, in a panic, tries to pull it off and ends up tearing the fabric....

If it's just the lining of a satin dress, it can be repaired, but occasionally, the lace dress might tear in a visible area for guests, which is really sad....

If the dress is rented, there could be compensation involved, and even if the dress was bought, it would still be a shock.

Even if it doesn't tear, the toes can get caught in the dress, making it uncomfortable to walk."

That was the conversation.

I might have experienced this...

I've always thought that bridal shoes should be cute with shiny buckles or designs with ribbons.

But hearing this made me reconsider my opinion a little.

Indeed...

I have had experiences where my shiny shoes (even in everyday life!) got tangled up in a long tulle skirt!

A three-dimensional ribbon getting caught in the dress.

That can cause the beautiful ribbon to get a bit crushed.

Or a rough glitter surface snagging on lace.

When wearing a wedding dress, such accidents definitely seem likely.

So that’s why borrowing at the wedding venue was a thing...!

I thought it was wonderful to have my favorite cute shoes peeking out from the dress and that wearing favorite shoes could lift my spirits.

But...

Depending on the shoe design, I realized that there might be a risk of getting caught in the dress and thus walking difficulties; that was a blind spot for me.

"I see...! That's why the ones you can borrow from wedding venues and salons tend to be simple and smooth patent designs...!"

I was convinced.

Until now, I thought rental bridal shoes were too simple and bland...

But there might have been solid reasons for their appearance and material choices.
