"My Selection as a Pierre Hermé Fan: The Gifts I Want to Buy From His Online Boutique!"
2020.10.23 published
I Love Pierre Hermé Sweets ♡
Pierre Hermé is a genius patissier known as the Picasso of the dessert world ♡ He was born in a family of patissiers in Alsace, which has been in the business for four generations, and has experience working at Fauchon and Ladurée.
(He is also said to be the creator of Ispahan!)
I have been captivated by Hermé since I first encountered his sweets during my university years.
(I will never forget the Ispahan Christmas cake. I was so impressed that such delicious things exist in the world.)
On my trips to Paris, I always visit the first store on Rue Bonaparte first, and when he has events in Japan, I take a day off work just to get his autograph. I absolutely love Hermé's cakes ♡
First of all, the flavors are original and complex.
The marriage of rose, raspberry, and lychee goes without saying.
The combination of passion fruit and matcha.
The combination of cassis and violet.
"This is the original flavor! ♡"
The surprising flavors give me joy, and each bite makes my brain tingle with excitement ♪
Recently, there have been collaborative products sold at Seven-Eleven, and Mister Donut has also released collaboration items, and even canned drinks and Seiko watches have collaborated, leading to more news coverage.
As a long-time fan, I silently pray, "Please let the spirit of Pierre Hermé not be lost...." but when I tried it recently, I was once again impressed by the deliciousness of Ispahan.
The Online Shop Has Cheap Shipping!
There are quite a few Pierre Hermé stores, with 17 locations nationwide.
(Be careful as some stores do not sell fresh cakes, and others may not have ice cream.)
It's certainly a delight to slowly choose from the array of sweets lined up in the showcase and carry them home in a paper bag, but recently the online boutique has also become very appealing.
➡️ Here’s the URL for Pierre Hermé’s online boutique****
When considering transportation and shipping costs, I realized, "Hmm.... the shipping is cheaper than the train fare.... and if it's a gift, it will cost extra for the train fare plus shipping, so actually, ordering online might be more economical...."
(Shipping from stores varies by region and box size, but the online shop has a flat rate of 720 yen for all locations, and shockingly, even for cool delivery, it's a flat rate of 940 yen!)
Isn't that clearly cheaper than train fare...?
Moreover, I used to request shipping as a gift at the store, paying around 2000 yen for shipping, so I was shocked when I learned about the affordability of the online shop's shipping costs...
From now on, I plan to always order from the online shop when choosing gifts.
(I buy clothes online casually!)
Therefore.
In this article, I would like to introduce "sweets that can be purchased at Pierre Hermé's online boutique, which I think are perfect for gifts," as someone who has tried almost all of Hermé's products.
Recommendation 1: Macarons
When you think of Pierre Hermé, you think of macarons.
They are cute and delicious, making it easy to want to give many as gifts, but they taste best when eaten right away, so for one person, I recommend either the 3-piece or 6-piece sets.
For a larger gift, there is also a set of up to 40 macarons ♡
A box that contains 40 macarons should be quite large and visually stunning when it arrives.
The shipping for that (even though it's cool delivery!) is just 940 yen, which is an amazing deal.
Buying from the online boutique will save you money.
Recommendation 2: Ice Cream
The ice cream products "Glace et Sorbet" and "Miss Gragra" are also recommended as gifts.
These are sweets that express original flavors representing Pierre Hermé in ice cream form, giving them a special feel.
Recommendation 3: Cookies
When it comes to gifts, cookies and baked goods are classic choices.
Hermé’s cookies are priced over 1000 yen per box. It seems a bit pricey.... (a set of 6 sablés is in the 9000 yen range!) but they are indeed delicious, so I think sweet lovers will appreciate them.
The two-flavor combination is 3456 yen.
Prices vary by flavor, but one starts from 1296 yen.
My favorite is the Sablé Infiniment Vanille, a classic choice.
For Myself, This ♡
Even if you live near a boutique, there are products that might be better ordered online for personal indulgence...

For instance, this Advent Calendar.
It contains 24 pieces of Pierre Hermé's sweets, allowing you to enjoy one every day until Christmas ♡
Advent calendars often get forgotten amidst various plans, and if you’re not careful, you end up welcoming December 1st without having time to buy one.
By ordering from the online shop to have it arrive at home in November, you can enjoy it without any loss.

Ice cakes (Entremets Glacés) are also recommended to be ordered online for delivery rather than picking them up at the store.
You won’t have to worry about them melting, so there’s no need to rush home, giving you peace of mind.
The flavor of caramelized hazelnuts, "Entremet Glacé Infiniment Praliné Noisette," is priced at ¥6,750 including shipping.
There are also Ispahan and Satine Entremets Glacés available ♡
Sometimes Online Shopping Is More Economical ♡
Buying sweets online seems daunting and makes you feel like you want to actually visit the store, but when you think about it, "Considering transportation and shipping, buying from the online shop is cheaper," isn't that surprising?
I love Hermé's sweets, so I always went to the store to order and send gifts to friends, but I seem to have realized that "the flat shipping price of the online shop is more economical than what I pay in-store."
From now on, especially for gifts (for items that can be ordered online), I plan to order from the online shop.
Let’s enjoy delicious treats and gifts smartly and economically.
Sweets bring happiness to everyone ♡
