Around 5000 Yen! A List of Wedding and Birthday Gifts That Made Me Happy to Receive and Others Happy to Give at Age 28

What to Give as a Gift with a Budget of 5,000 Yen?
Hello, I’m Nagisa from Marry.
Suddenly, I think many of you might have the opportunity to give presents like birthday gifts, thank-you gifts for receptions, or wedding gifts around the budget of [5,000 yen]*.
I also have a friend with whom I exchange gifts every birthday, and since we've been doing this for nearly 10 years, we’ve already given and received all the classic gifts, so I'm always troubled about what to give. (The time spent thinking about gifts is actually enjoyable, so it’s not a burden at all…!)
So in this article, I picked out gifts that I thought were “I was really happy to receive this!”
“It was received really well, and they repurchased it ♡”
“I’m thinking of giving this next time *”
focusing only on gifts that are not likely to overlap ♩
① Lip Balm
The Estee Lauder and Yves Saint Laurent engraved lipsticks have been standard gift items for over five years now * (I've received several myself ♡).
Until not long ago, I was happy to receive lipsticks in colors I wouldn't choose for myself, thinking, "I can do new makeup!" and it was fun to try new shades, but…
Recently, after using many lipsticks, I have a "this is it!" favorite, so I just keep using that, and due to COVID, I often don't wear lipstick at all.
Therefore, I would be happier to receive "lip balm" rather than a colored lipstick ♡
(This was many years ago…) when I received and used Chanel's Rouge Coco Balm, it was very good, so I’m thinking of giving this as a gift next time ♡
It's perfect as a lip base, and applying it before bed leaves my lips plump and moist the next day. The subtly elegant scent reminiscent of Chanel makes me feel like just applying it would elevate my gestures.
The price is 4,400 yen (tax included) *
Besides Chanel, I am also interested in Jo Malone's lip balm since it has good reviews.
This one is also 4,400 yen (excluding tax).
It slightly exceeds the budget at 7,920 yen (excluding tax), but…
I’m also interested in the Hermes beauty line “Rouge Hermes” lip balm ♡
② Photo Frame
I was really happy to receive a photo frame in collaboration between Vera Wang and Wedgwood as a wedding gift ♡
Photo frames are available even at 100 yen shops, so you don’t usually feel motivated to buy a brand-name one. (However, when I think about decorating my house with something bought from a 100 yen shop, it makes it feel a bit cheap, so I couldn't display it…!)
I really long for displaying family photos in noticeable places, and it somehow feels like it stabilizes the family, so I want to display them, but it's a high hurdle for me to do it myself. Even thinking to look for a photo frame, print the photos, and put them in the frame… I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
So, when I received a photo frame, the hurdle dropped significantly since it was just about printing the photos, and I felt very happy with the motivation of “I have to display it because I received it!”
I was slightly concerned that my husband, who dislikes photos, might mind having photos around, so having the excuse of "I received a photo frame, so I will display our wedding photos!" was a small but happy point.
Displaying family photos in the photo frame I received from my dear friend filled our home with happiness ♡
Photo frames that you can buy for around 5,000 yen include:
✅ Wedgwood
✅ Noritake
✅ Swarovski
and others *
③ Chopstick Rest
I receive many plates and glasses as wedding gifts, but…
Receiving a "chopstick rest" as a gift was something that no one else had, and I was very happy!
Until now, I would place chopsticks directly on the table or on a side dish plate, but after receiving chopstick rests, I feel like our dining table looks much more homely ♡
Choosing chopstick rests to match the dish has made my life feel richer and more enjoyable, and unlike plates or glasses, they don't take up much space, so no matter how many I receive, I'm always happy to have them *
There are really many brands of chopstick rests (including Arita-yaki, etc.), so it seems good to go and look at department stores and choose based on the person I’m giving it to.
The flower chopstick rest in this picture (received from editor-in-chief Haruno ♡) is from "Tefu" ♩
④ Body Scrub
A friend who works in a cosmetic surgery clinic gave me a body scrub saying, "This is really good, you have to use it!!!" and I was so impressed that I also gifted it to other friends ♡
It’s the "Hip Run" scrub from Peach John.
As the name suggests, it’s a scrub specifically for the "hip," but the texture's characteristic roughness disappears instantly, leaving it plump and smooth. After rinsing, it feels like there's a film on the skin, leaving it moist, smooth, and silky * (Although marketed for the hips, it can be used all over the body!)
Body scrubs from brands like Sabon, Laline, and Lush are standard gifts, but I think the Peach John "hip-specific" scrub is not that well-known (?), making it less likely to overlap with others ♡
The scrub is 2,400 yen, and wrapping it with the same series' moisturizing cream and a hip sheet mask (!) brings it to around 5,000 yen ♡
I hope this helps ♡
I introduced items that are likely not to overlap with others and that would make both the giver and receiver happy within a budget of 5,000 yen *
Keep in mind the recipient's preferences and lifestyle.
I'm pleased if there are items here that seem like good candidates! ♡
By the way…!
Additionally, I would be very happy to receive face masks from brands that I wouldn’t normally buy for myself…!
➡ I also introduce recommended face masks in this article ♡
