Many people may think, "The larger one has more helium, so it might last longer..."

However, helium balloons tend to last longer when they are smaller!

In fact, this large heart balloon deflated in about three days, while the small heart balloon stayed nice for about three weeks♡

The "3" balloon in this photo also started to deflate the day after I bought it, but the star balloon floated happily for about a month＊

Why do larger balloons deflate faster?

The pressure inside a helium-filled balloon is greater than the outside pressure, creating a force that pushes the gas out.

Consequently, over time, the tiny gaps on the surface of the aluminum balloon (we're talking at the molecular level!) allow the gas to slowly escape.

As the helium gas escapes, the larger balloon will eventually become heavier than the lifting power of the helium, causing it to stop floating.

In the case of smaller balloons, even if some helium escapes, the aluminum is light enough that they can still float for a while♡
