"Enhancing Makeup Instructions: Using Selfies as Face Charts for Better Communication!"

How to Create a Makeup Instruction Sheet...?
As the hair and makeup rehearsal approaches, you need to collect images of your ideal hairstyle and makeup, and create an "instruction sheet" that communicates your vision to the hair and makeup artist.
For bridal hair, it's sufficient to share an image of the hairstyle you want to emulate and explain what aspects you would like to replicate in text...
However, creating a makeup instruction sheet for bridal makeup can be challenging.
Even if you share a model's face photo and exclaim, "I love this makeup!" it might be unclear what you want to reference since the face is different from yours...!
(While you might be able to communicate details like, "I want orange blush, pink lips, and a focus on sheen rather than matte," it may not fully convey your vision…!)
In reality, you probably want to express these specific details in your makeup instruction sheet.
☑ Applying the darker eyeshadow across the entire width of the double eyelids may be too flashy, so about half the width would be better.
☑ I want the blush applied in an oval shape on the usual spot above the cheekbone.
☑ The eyebrows should be shaped this way—not too thick, not too thin, etc...
The aspects you care about are often those you handle yourself every day.
To avoid a "This isn't quite right!?" moment on your wedding day, these points are undoubtedly important to share.
However, conveying these nuances through a model's face photo is likely impossible...
"Face Charts" Could Be the Solution!
I wondered how to create a more straightforward "makeup instruction sheet" to communicate my wishes and found a particular sheet.
It's called a "face chart," used by makeup artists and students in hair and makeup schools.
The concept involves coloring an illustration of a face with actual makeup products to create a visual representation of the desired makeup.
If I could draw a face chart that resembles my own, it would be just right for a makeup instruction sheet!
There are indeed brides-to-be who are creating makeup instruction sheets using face charts!
They divide the illustrations into specific areas and explain points clearly, making it very easy to understand.
But what if you can't draw the illustrations as well as they do...?
\Solution/ Using an App that Sketches Photos is the Way to Go!
That's when I thought of using an app that converts photos into sketches to illustrate my selfies.
By turning my selfie into a monochrome sketch for the face chart, I should create a highly effective makeup instruction sheet!
The app I tried is called 'Sketch Me! Lite,' which is a free camera app.
When you take a selfie with 'Sketch Me! Lite', it produces a sketch-style photo featuring the contours and features of your face.
You can print this out and use colored pencils to create your ideal makeup ♡
(It might be a bit embarrassing, but I just have to accept that only I and the hair and makeup artist will see it!)
Because you're using your face as a canvas,
it's easier to communicate nuances like:
"I want the eyeshadow applied this far,"
"The blush must be in this exact position,"
"The nose shadow should be this thickness,"
and so on.
Since a full-face selfie might miss the finer details, photographing desired parts like the eyes and eyebrows separately and annotating the instructions might be a better approach.
