Gradually Cute and Surreal.
Do you know about "Onigiri-n-gu"??
This is an original product made by a company called Kitan Club. It’s a unique capsule toy that contains a ring representing the filling of an onigiri (rice ball) inside a capsule shaped like a rice ball wrapped in seaweed.
The price is 300 yen per capsule.
In recent years, amidst the "adult gacha" boom, Onigiri-n-gu has become one of the popular gacha toys. So I had known about it for a while, but I still vividly remember the shock when I first saw it.
Even now, looking at it again, it’s just so surreal. It’s amusing that it’s a ring, but instead of a diamond or a gemstone, it holds onigiri filling, creating this sense of otherness.
I feel an indescribable cuteness from it. ***
There are five types of fillings.
The fillings for Onigiri-n-gu are: grilled salmon, pickled plum, spicy cod roe, salmon roe, and kelp.
When compared to the cup's edge character, it looks like this.
When compared to a Sylvanian baby, it looks like this.
It’s quite big and has a substantial size.
I want to surprise my husband with it. ***
I think it would be amusing to surprise my husband, who doesn’t know about Onigiri-n-gu, by saying, “Here you go. Enjoy your onigiri! ♩”
You could give it to him with the case closed,
or it could also be fun to open the lid like this and present it in a proposal style. (Isn’t this photo amazing...?!!)
Even in a real proposal...!
There was even a bride who received Onigiri-n-gu during a real proposal. ♡
She mentioned she didn’t want an engagement ring, but her partner wanted at least a symbolic gesture, so the Onigiri-n-gu was chosen.
Even though it was a toy ring, the excitement of not knowing what was inside made her tear up and cry.
What a lovely story. *
I might want to try it if I see Onigiri-n-gu!
Onigiri-n-gu is one of the popular gacha toys.
Now, there are also colorful cases for dishes like omurice and boiled eggs in addition to the white rice version.
Next time you spot Onigiri-n-gu in a gacha corner at a department store or station, be sure to give it a try! ♩
