I wondered if many other future brides besides my friend are struggling with this "complex of not being able to DIY." So I decided to write this article.
Having observed weddings for the past five years since marry was established, I want to share the "benefits of intentionally choosing not to DIY."
If you think you might have a DIY complex, please give this a read.
(This isn't an article that denies DIY*)
Benefit of Not DIYing at Weddings 1: Keeping the Wedding Simple
The first thing that comes to mind is getting closer to the original simple purpose of a wedding, which is a declaration of love.
I once attended a wedding of a friend who hardly looks at Instagram or the internet, and it was a simple ceremony without any original performances or items. It was fresh and incredibly moving.
Of course, carefully crafted DIY is wonderful, but such weddings can become a full display of their worldview.
I think it's perfectly okay to prepare a wedding focused on the simple purpose of "having a wedding" without pouring so much energy into preparing items.
Benefit of Not DIYing at Weddings 2: Being Refined and Stylish
If you don’t DIY, you will naturally end up using wedding items ordered from professionals.
Whether it's welcome boards, ring pillows, paper items, etc...
Unless you have extraordinary taste, it is indeed quite challenging to surpass a professional’s work.
A wedding equipped with professional items tends to generally have a higher design quality compared to a handmade wedding.
Moreover, when you're preparing with DIY as the basis, you tend to get distracted by "this and that" regarding various items, but with an ordering basis, there's a tendency to not increase the number of items due to budget constraints.
As a result, it will likely lead to a sophisticated wedding atmosphere that isn’t cluttered.
Benefit of Not DIYing at Weddings 4: Less Likely to Regret
I feel that satisfaction with a wedding is often a matter of mindset.
Even if others think, "What a wonderful wedding!" the bride herself might be having regrets.
One of the benefits of not DIYing is that it can make it less likely to have thoughts like:
“I should have done this differently.”
With DIY, since you can do everything exactly as you want, you might later think:
"Maybe this color should have been something different."
"The size was a bit off."
"I should have gone with a different design."
However, when you purchase ready-made items or ask a professional, the choices are limited from the start, making it less likely to have such regrets.
This reminds me of whether you bought a pre-built house or commissioned a custom one; those who built custom homes often regret the finer details more!
Benefit of Not DIYing at Weddings 5: Focusing on Self-Improvement
One of the things that comes with deciding not to handcraft wedding items.
That's "time"!
Not dealing with overwhelming DIY stress leading to sleep deprivation and stress eating is definitely a big benefit.
You can spend time on diets or visits to the salon.
Taking it easy and dedicating time to self-improvement so you can elevate yourself into the most beautiful bride is indeed a joy.
