Have you ever heard of a “Gimmel Ring”?

A Gimmel Ring is a type of ring that features a design where two rings are intertwined.

Origin and History＊

In English, it is referred to as the “Gimmel Ring.”

Gimmel means “twins” in Latin.

The design began to appear around the 14th century, and it was common to combine the rings of lovers to create a single ring for engagement.

Don’t you think it’s a ring filled with a wonderful love story?

A Gimmel Ring that feels connected.

Even when pulled like this, it doesn't come apart.

Besides personal connections, it was also used as a sign of friendship between families… or as a testament to friendships between countries, where each family would contribute one ring to create the Gimmel Ring.

(It's amazing that, when expanded, it forms the infinity symbol ∞… )

Perhaps due to this influence, many of the antique Gimmel Rings from the 14th to the 15th century that are traded today feature wonderful designs.

Many old Gimmel Rings feature a design depicting a handshake.

It’s unique, exotic, and wonderful. It feels like something out of a world of magic.

While this design conveys a message of “nice to meet you,” the hands are not just for decoration.
