"Those Living in Kyoto Are Enviable: The Adorable Cherry Blossom Sweets from Senbon Tamajuken"
2021.06.26 published
Like a Work of Art ♡
I stumbled upon some incredibly cute wagashi (Japanese sweets).
This is a cherry-shaped namagashi from a wagashi shop in Kyoto called Senbonta Majuken.
With a soft pink surface that resembles a baby's cheek,
the perfectly round shapes cuddle together like twins, making them absolutely adorable ♡
It’s like art ♡
What is it made of?
The cherry namagashi is made by wrapping white koshian (sweet red bean paste) in a soft uirou dough.
The stem is made from pine leaves.
While it doesn't actually taste like cherries, I thought to myself that the plump texture must surely be delicious...! ♡
I want to take a photo of it placed on my favorite stylish small plate before eating it ♡
Where can I buy it?
The cherry namagashi from Senbonta Majuken can be purchased at their main store located in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto, and at Kyoto Takashimaya.
(They are not available for online sales.)
It is a limited-time offering available only in June,
priced at 432 yen each.
It seems that they can sell out, so it might be best to go early.
Other Cute Sweets ♡
Senbonta Majuken offers beautiful namagashi beyond just "cherry."
"Fireflies of Sawabe"
"Milky Way"
"Peony"
"Shichihenge"
"Hydrangea"
Each one is wonderful, showcasing the beauty of wagashi.
A Store I Definitely Want to Visit When I Go to Kyoto ♡
The cherry namagashi from Senbonta Majuken, a wagashi specialty store in Kyoto, is available exclusively during June.
Its beauty is love at first sight, and I've resolved to go to Kyoto in June next year and definitely eat it ♡♡♡
Still, it's just too cute ♩
