I found something cute and beautiful ♡

A round and plump paulownia box with delicate and beautiful patterns. Traditional, warm, and something you want to pass down through generations. I discovered such a wonderful item.

It's called the "Tamago Box" from HakoTou Shoten located in Kyoto*

HakoTou Shoten was founded in 1891 (Meiji 24) as Yamada Touki Shoten in Yanagibaba Bukkoji. In 1944 (Showa 19), they moved to the north side of Nishi Honganji, the head temple of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect, and changed their name to "HakoTou Shoten."

Since its establishment, they have dealt with "paulownia boxes to store precious items," such as kimono obi, Noh masks, Kiyomizu pottery, and Buddhist implements, and have been known as a "modest supporting actor" in Kyoto's traditional crafts world.

Since 2000, they have opened a gallery specialized in paulownia boxes for individuals, proposing various paulownia boxes that fit modern lifestyles ♡

Adorably cute "Tamago Box" ♡

HakoTou Shoten offers various paulownia boxes tailored to different uses, such as sewing boxes and tea bowl boxes, but in this article, I will introduce the "Tamago Box."

When you think of a paulownia box, you might imagine a rigid square shape, but the Tamago Box, as the name suggests, has a plump and round form.

The lid doesn't open up; instead, it slides open, and the opening has a zigzag pattern, which is also a nice touch ♡

The Tamago Box is popular as a gift for childbirth and is often used as a case for the umbilical cord. It beautifully celebrates the birth of a baby. (The name "Tamago," which means egg, is also cute.)

It's said that Mao Kobayashi chose it as her umbilical cord case for her two children.

Additionally, the variety of patterns available for the Tamago Box is charming.

There are a total of 18 types of seasonal flowers, from January to December, including "sakura and ajisai," "wisteria and camellia," and "moon and autumn grasses."

There are also Tamago Boxes themed around the zodiac,

along with lucky motifs like "treasures," "wisteria and cranes," and for boys' childbirth celebrations, "kabuto," "koi nobori," "Kintaro," "Momotaro," and more, offering a plethora of designs to choose from.

You can also have custom designs made. This piano design was a gift made by a friend for a mom who runs a piano class.

You can select various patterns based on the zodiac, season, or wishes for the baby, giving it a special feel.

The price is 5,500 yen each, and you can add engraving for an additional 1,100 yen ♡ (You can have it placed on the inside or outside back of the egg.)
