Did you know??
One of the symbols of Kobe♩
The "Kobe Port Tower" will end its operations as of September 26, 2021.
But that doesn't mean the Port Tower will be gone.
Due to aging, seismic renovations, and the construction of new facilities, a large-scale renovation will take place, and it will temporarily close to be reborn anew.
Reopening is in 2023*
The reopening after the large-scale renovation will be in 2023. It will take a long break of about two years.
For now, thank you for your hard work until now♩
Kobe Port Tower was built in 1963.
The then mayor of Kobe, Tadajirou Haraguchi, started the planning after observing a large tower overlooking the port during a visit to the Port of Rotterdam, the largest in Europe, in the Netherlands.
It features the world's first architectural style of a pipe structure woven in a cage shape with 32 pipe steel pipes.
Its silhouette resembles a musical instrument's drum (tsuzumi).
It’s beautiful, isn’t it?♩
It is also well known that during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in January 1995, it suffered almost no damage.
The night lighting still carries the wish, "The light of hope for the citizens of Kobe rising to rebuild."
There seems to be an increase in pre-wedding shoots at the harbor*
Now that the closure of Kobe Port Tower is approaching.
It seems that brides are increasing who do location shoots around Kobe's Harborland.
When you think of Harborland, there are various spots, right?
- Kobe Oriental Hotel
- BE KOBE monument
- Starbucks Coffee Kobe Meriken Park Store
- Mosaic Ferris Wheel
- Aniverser Kobe
- Kobe Foreign Settlement
- Kobe Port cruising ships
And so on.
Since it’s a port town, any location makes for stylish wedding photos, but the composition including the Kobe Port Tower is a classic must-have*
Especially after sunset, the port tower illuminated at night is really beautiful!
If you’re doing a pre-wedding shoot at the harbor, you definitely can’t miss this shot.
However, by September 26, 2021, this illuminated view will be a temporary farewell.
As a symbolic presence and a wonderful photo spot, if you're going to have a pre-wedding shoot at the harbor, you definitely want to take pictures here while the Port Tower is still lit up♡
It’s understandable that more people are rushing to take pre-wedding photos.
It’s truly wonderful♡
Looking forward to the new appearance of the Port Tower
It’s sad that the symbolic Port Tower of Kobe will enter a two-year closure, but I am looking forward to the newly renovated Port Tower in 2023♩
<As a side note>
Before the large-scale renovation begins, there seems to be a plan to stay at Kobe Port Tower for one night!
You can stay on the observation floor at 108 meters above ground, where a 360° view of Kobe unfolds...!
It's an amazing, dream-like space♩
Limited to one couple for 390,000 yen. It's going to be a lottery, but those who had a pre-wedding shoot at the harbor or have memories associated with the Port Tower should definitely check it out.
Proposing here would also be wonderful♡
Applications are being accepted until July 30, 2021.
