A Cutting Board I've Been Wanting
Recently, our family had been living with a temporary cutting board after disposing of the one we had used for a long time.
I found something that I thought, "I want this next!" so I'd like to introduce it.
This is a product called the Crescent Cutting Board from a lifestyle tool shop called Touhenboku.
It seems to be quite famous among fans of tableware and tools, but did you all know about it...???
Self-standing. Rotatable. Shave-able.
This cutting board is appealing because it is crescent-shaped, which allows it to stand on its own.
Take a look ♡
It stands straight without needing to be propped up.
Even a regular rectangular cutting board can stand if leaned against something, but the hygiene of the area attached to its base can be a concern. (Even if you use a stand, the stand can get dirty too...)
The crescent shape has fewer contact surfaces but still provides stability which is great.
Additionally, since it's round, you can rotate the cutting board like on a Chinese table, making it convenient for cutting.
(I feel like this is something you can't do with a rectangular cutting board!)
Moreover, this cutting board is about 3 millimeters thick, offering a sturdy usage. Each time you use it, the scent of wood wafts through the air.
When it becomes worn, you can have the surface shaved down for 5000 yen, allowing for maintenance so it can be used in great condition for a long time.
This is why it is called "a lifetime cutting board" ♡
You can serve food directly on it and present it as a cutting board on the table, and it looks stylish.
Two sizes of the boards fit perfectly together at the crescent-shaped recess, making it an excellent item for size adjustment.
I Want It But It Takes Two and a Half Years!
Touhenboku is a shop located in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, where folk crafts and crafts are thriving. The shop owner, Hitoshi Kobayashi, has exquisite taste, attracting fans from all over the country.
The items offered are a mix of those designed and developed by Mr. Kobayashi himself and selected items.
Inside the two-story old folk house shop, the items are displayed in a way that resembles how they would be used in a home.
Beautiful....!
In addition to cutting boards, there are beautiful and essential products for rich living like mortars, chopsticks, and drop-lids.
Mr. Kobayashi pours his thoughts into the belief that "the things we have in our daily lives should be beautiful. Even ordinary days should be beautiful."
The Crescent Cutting Board is an original product by Mr. Kobayashi. It is made from solid magnolia wood (untreated wood) and is produced upon order.
It is popular, and currently, the wait time from ordering to delivery is about two and a half years. Some people purchase two sets for maintenance purposes.
Waiting two years is long, but I'm tempted to place an order…*
I also want to visit the shop in Matsumoto someday ♡
