Recommended Photoshoot Spots for Nihonbashi Pre-Wedding: A Short Move from the Classic Marunouchi Area!

Nihonbashi, the Town*
Nihonbashi has a more subdued atmosphere than Ginza or Marunouchi. Though department stores like Mitsukoshi Main Store, COREDO Nihonbashi, and Takashimaya SC, as well as office buildings, line the streets, there are fewer tourists and foreigners compared to Ginza.
It's a town that has been the starting point of the five main roads contributing to Japan's development. Although it was said that, after the bubble burst, the lively atmosphere typical of the old downtown faded...
Now, after redevelopment, the area retains a downtown vibe while blending the new with the old, creating a strong image of a calm town rich in history and tradition.
Growing Popularity for Location Shooting*
It seems that Nihonbashi has become popular as a location for photo shoots.
When it comes to urban photo shoots in Tokyo, Marunouchi is the usual choice, but it seems that Nihonbashi is gaining attention lately...!
I will introduce you to the popular spots for location shooting and the types of photos you can take.
Nihonbashi Photo Spot ① Kirin Statue
The Kirin statue is famous in Nihonbashi.
This is a total of four winged kirin sculptures displayed in the middle of the bridge across Nihonbashi, which also appears in Keigo Higashino's novel "The Wings of the Kirin."
The statue was created by sculptor Nagao Watanabe. It was installed to represent the image of the kirin taking flight from Nihonbashi, which serves as the starting point of roads connecting to the nationwide.
It has a powerful and bold expression with an incredible presence.
According to legend, the kirin comes to a peaceful country without conflicts, so taking wedding photos with it seems auspicious.
Since there are two statues on each side of the bridge, you can take photos with different atmospheres depending on the angle.

Next to Mitsukoshi Main Store, the Mitsui Main Building is a full-fledged office building that incorporates American neoclassical design. This is also designated as an Important Cultural Property.
It houses the Tokyo Central Branch of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, and next to it stands the Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower, a landmark in the Nihonbashi area.
It was also a filming location for the drama "Hanzawa Naoki," where Masato Sakai's character works at the Tokyo Central Bank Main Office.
For photo shoots, it's popular to take pictures in front of the grand doors.
