Introducing the New Birthstone List: Now Featuring 10 New Gems for a Total of 29 After 63 Years!

Have you seen the news about the added birthstones?

The Japan Jewelers' Wholesale Association (an organization approved by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, engaging in the liberalization of gemstone imports and appraisal services) has announced the addition of new birthstones.

The "birthstones" in Japan were first established in 1958 based on the birthstones designated by the American National Retail Jewelers Association.

After more than 60 years, an additional 10 stones were officially added in December 2021, bringing the total to 29 birthstones in the official lineup ♡

Currently, there are various lists of birthstones, similar to astrology, but the ones determined by the Japan Jewelers' Wholesale Association are the officially recognized contents.

The reason for the revision is mainly because there are numerous lists of birthstones, "to avoid consumer confusion, we prioritized unifying birthstones within the industry."

Furthermore, the aim is "to broaden consumers' choices and to enhance interest in gemstones through the revision of birthstones."
