Discovered Cosmetics I'm Interested In
While searching for new skincare cosmetics, I found a brand with an intriguing name.
Do you know about "Generic Cosmetics"?
When I hear "generic," I think of medicines.
Generic drugs are follow-on drugs that contain the same ingredients as new drugs.
After the patent on the original drug expires, they are manufactured by other companies in a short development period with nearly the same components, making them an accessible option at a lower price (with less out-of-pocket expense).
So, what is the definition of generic cosmetics?
Generic cosmetics refer to products manufactured and sold by a company in Yamanashi Prefecture called Generic Cosmetics Co., Ltd. (which also holds the trademark).
Therefore, unlike general generic drugs made by various manufacturers,
generic cosmetics can only be produced and labeled as such by this company. That’s why they aren't very familiar.
It is defined on their website as follows:
--------------------------------------------------------
"Generic" literally translates to "common."
Many high-quality cosmetics are expensive and hard to access, so
Generic Cosmetics Co., Ltd. aims to provide cosmetics that balance price and quality.

Good products at a fair price*
In other words, generic cosmetics are:
✅ Cosmetics made by Generic Cosmetics Co., Ltd.,
✅ made with the best possible quality, and
✅ available at a reasonable price that encourages repurchase.
I understand this now.*
More than 80% is made of beauty ingredients*
One of the popular items in Generic Cosmetics is the "GC Facial Essence" toner.
You’ve probably heard the famous saying that "more than 80% of a toner’s ingredients are water (purified water)," but...
The toner from Generic Cosmetics is quite the opposite.*
It is a luxurious toner formulated with over 80% beauty ingredients.
The key is the inclusion of Galactomyces*
Among those beauty ingredients, the especially noteworthy component is Galactomyces.
Galactomyces is a precious ingredient discovered by artisans at a sake brewery who noticed that
"although their faces were sunburned and dark, their hands were white and supple."
It is packed with vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, beneficial nutrients for beauty. The artisans’ hands were likely beautiful because they touched these ingredients daily.
Toners containing Galactomyces are available from other brands but are relatively expensive.
However, Generic Cosmetics offers a large capacity size for about two months at 4,950 yen.
That breaks down to 2,475 yen per month.
While it is certainly more expensive than the nearly lowest-priced toners found in pharmacies, it contains nearly 80% of beneficial beauty ingredients, making it a good deal.
Additionally, they keep costs down by not spending on advertising and keeping the packaging simple.
I’m definitely interested in trying it out!♩
