Fashion for Family Meeting

For the family meeting and engagement ceremony, it's standard to wear a nice dress, but...

If you want to create a more traditional and special atmosphere, especially in venues like a ryotei or a hotel restaurant, the best choice is definitely a furisode.

It’s a rare opportunity to show your last furisode appearance to your parents, your fiancé, and his parents.

It'll definitely create memorable moments ♡

I Don't Have One, But I Want to Wear a Furisode*

If you have a furisode you received for your coming-of-age ceremony or one that was passed down from your mother or grandmother, you would want to wear that with care.

However, there are many brides who might say, "I don’t own a furisode, but I want to wear one for this occasion."

In that case, you'll need to look for kimono rental shops that offer rentals.

I've listed four recommended shops for you ♩

These are not traditional kimono shops that feel too formal. I’ve selected shops where you can easily search for kimonos online, make smooth reservations, and rent at reasonable prices, so please have a look.

Recommended Furisode Rental Shop 1

"Kyoto Kimono Rental Wargo."

You can choose between delivery and in-store dressing for your furisode rental.

(If you're having a meeting at a hotel, you could opt for delivery and get dressed and have your hair done at the hotel’s beauty salon.)

Rental prices start from 11,000 yen including tax for the lowest-priced kimono.

The most expensive option is 33,000 yen including tax.

It comes with everything needed for dressing (including bags and zori), which is a great deal. It’s probably one of the top three cheapest options in the industry compared to other shops...!

They have a rich collection ranging from classic patterns to trendy retro and classic styles.

The shops are located in two places in Kyoto, one in Osaka, three in Tokyo, and two in Kanazawa, Ishikawa.

Recommended Furisode Rental Shop 2

"Kyoto Kimono Yuzen."

This is a well-known shop for rental and purchase of coming-of-age ceremony furisode. There may be many brides who borrowed kimonos from here at the age of twenty.

The full rental set ranges from 44,000 yen to 506,000 yen.

There’s quite a price range, but even under 100,000 yen, there are many good kimonos available, so it’s recommended.

Some shops may offer cheaper options made from polyester, but Kyoto Kimono Yuzen only offers genuine silk (100% silk), so you can confidently wear it to meet senior family members.

There are over 40 stores nationwide, and you can visit to see them in person, so definitely check it out*

(Although the HP has a strong focus on coming-of-age ceremonies, rentals are, of course, available for family meetings and weddings as well.)

Recommended Furisode Rental Shop 3

"Kimono 365."

This is an online kimono shop where you can select your favorite design from the HP and have it delivered (there is no physical store).

Therefore, the prices are incredibly reasonable! You can rent the cheapest furisode for 7,980 yen including tax. It's surprising to get change back from 10,000 yen.

Even the most expensive ones are 10,780 yen including tax. Of course, it includes all the necessary accessories. It’s hard to find such a cheap shop...!

Even with the low prices, there are many designs that are quite appealing*

Recommended Furisode Rental Shop 4

"Kimono Rentallie."

This shop also does not have a physical store and offers rental delivery via the internet.

The price range starts from 9,800 yen, even the expensive ones are around 40,000 yen.

The round-trip shipping cost for the products is also free, so it’s great that you can receive a furisode for just 10,000 yen.

With over 200 options, choosing one is fun too*

[Family Meeting] Last Memories in a Furisode

I’ve introduced kimono rental shops where you can reserve delivery and dressing online.

In January, which is the coming-of-age ceremony season, prices soar to nearly double, but from February to December, you can rent at the prices mentioned in the article.

They are cheap and have a wide variety of designs, and when it comes time to return, everything is well-prepared with invoices and bags, making it very convenient. (I was impressed by the smooth process when I rented a kimono from Wargo recently.)

At the actual family meeting, you should be able to take wonderful photos in a tatami room, round garden, or hotel lobby.

Brides who want to wear a furisode one last time, please use this as a reference*
