Discovered a Cute Flower*
Do you know the flower called Dicentra spectabilis (also known as Bleeding Heart)...?
I found out about it recently...
I was surprised because it has such a unique shape that makes you wonder, "Is this really a natural thing?"
Here it is.
On a bow-shaped flower stem, there are about 10 to 15 heart-shaped flowers hanging evenly down, blooming.
Isn’t this shape unique and amazing…?
The name "Bleeding Heart" written in kanji is 鯛釣草.
It indeed looks like a fish called "Tai" is hanging from a fishing rod...
(It reminds me of the Tai fortune slip at Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine*)
The English name is "Bleeding Heart." It means a bleeding heart.
Is it an image of a heart…?
Pink is standard, but white hearts are also cultivated for ornamental purposes. They're so cute♡
About Blooming Period and Language of Flowers
The blooming period of the Bleeding Heart is from April to May. It is a herbaceous type, and the optimal place for it to bloom is in shaded gardens, where dappled sunlight shines.
It seems that they are often sold as potted plants or pot seedlings rather than cut flowers.
The language of flowers includes "I follow you," "feelings of love," "go with the flow," and "heartbreak."
As you can see from its shape, it is indeed related to romance.
It is also the flower for April 12.
Surprisingly Blending with Other Flowers♡
Perhaps because the language of flowers is a bit negative, I feel like I haven't seen it used much as wedding flower materials...
(Could it also be because it is in the market for a short period from spring to early summer?)
However, the swaying, airy Bleeding Heart blends well with other flowers, looking really lovely when included in bouquets or floral arrangements♡
For example.
A bouquet using Bleeding Heart along with orchids, anthuriums, lilacs, and cymbidiums.
It's modest yet has a cute and fashionable look as it gracefully extends♡
It's softly Korean-inspired and modern too♡
As for floral arrangements, don't you think pink or lavender flowers mixed with Bleeding Heart would be a perfect match…?
Each flower isn't too big, so it doesn't stand out too much, creating a mix of pop and tenderness♡
White Bleeding Heart.
The curvature of the stem curling over anemones and lilies is wonderful.
It also goes well with tulips♡
Although it’s cute, since it’s a wildflower, it has a natural and slightly country feel.
A Flower I Want to See♡
The Bleeding Heart (also known as Dicentra spectabilis), with a heart shape so beautiful that it seems almost unnatural.
If it could be included in wedding floral arrangements or bouquets, I'm sure it could create a wonderful coordination.
Brides who will be having their weddings or pre-weddings in April to May, please ask your florists and definitely consider using it♡
