[Wedding Rings] The Story of Choosing Different Brands
Hello, I'm Yuki from marry. I recently purchased wedding rings.
The rings that my partner and I chose are from different brands.
Not only are the designs different, but we also ordered them from different stores.
(That's why we have two boxes. They aren't in the same one 🤣)
I think it's common for couples to choose the same brand for their wedding rings.
It's likely that most people select matching pair designs that are sold as sets for men and women.
However, we have no regrets about our chosen rings and are completely satisfied! ♡
In this article, I would like to talk about:
- Why we chose different brands
- If there were any issues with choosing different brands
- What the staff's reactions were
And more.
How We Ended Up with Different Brands
We initially discussed that we would "gift each other our wedding rings."
(I would pay for his ring, and he would pay for mine)
We agreed that "we shouldn't worry about prices and should just tell each other what we want and like."
After visiting about five stores of brands we were interested in...
There were a few candidates that I thought were nice, but in the end, the rings that both he and I truly wanted ended up being from completely different brands.
So, the fact that we chose different brands was merely a result of circumstances, and we didn't think of it as something that important...
It felt natural, as if to say, "I'm glad both of you found something you like," and "What makes me happiest is being able to gift a ring you love."
But Honestly, I Did Have Some Doubts
However, I did waver a bit, thinking, "Is it really okay to choose different brands...?" and "Should I really go with the brand he chose...?"
The reason was that when I shared this with a friend, they were surprised and said, "What!?"
They were genuinely shocked, and I realized that this might actually be quite rare...
Indeed, when I searched for "wedding rings different brands" on Google, I didn't find much information that I was looking for,
and when I searched on Instagram, I found mostly similar pairings. So I thought perhaps this was an unusual choice... and before purchasing, I hesitated just a little.
(Looking back, I think there was no need to worry at all, but at that moment, facing a significant lifelong purchase, I overthought everything, questioning whether going with different brands made us a bit too individualistic as a couple... or if it was somehow bad luck...)
But I Felt Reassured by the Store Staff
But what gave me confidence was the reaction of the staff at the store.*
I purchased my partner's wedding ring from Boucheron, and while we were being assisted, the staff asked, "What about your wife?"
A completely natural question.
When I replied, "I’m sorry, but I’m planning to buy from a different place...,"
they promptly said, "Of course, that's totally fine! We have customers who do that, and the best thing is to choose something you love!" and I felt very relieved.
(Thank you to the staff at Boucheron! ♡)
That completely removed my worries.
Considering the Downsides
When I thought about whether there were any troubles or downsides to choosing different brands, one thing that came to mind was the engraving.
There were different font options available depending on the brand, so we couldn't have the same typeface for the engravings.
(It's in a part that's not visible, so I'm totally fine with it 🤣)
Also, there's a possibility that we might not receive certain perks depending on the store... and in the future, when we go for cleaning, it might be a bit inconvenient as we can't drop them off together (we have to visit different stores).
Wedding Rings: No Need for Same Brand or Design *
In conclusion, this was the story of how we chose wedding rings from different brands.
Personally, I feel a bit luxurious having three different boxes from different stores for both the engagement ring and the wedding ring. ♡
I believe I was able to find rings that I am satisfied with and have no regrets about.
I hope this is helpful for anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation or struggle.
