I Want to Decorate with Dummy Books *

Thick imitation books that look like Western books, great for decorations at weddings, such as in welcome spaces, guest tables, or around the head table.

Catalog books from brands like LOEWE, VOGUE, and KINFORK give a stylish image. They can also be bought at 100 yen shops or 3 coins stores, making them a budget-friendly option.

For example, here is a dummy book from Seria.

This one is also from Seria.

This is from Daiso.

And this one is from 3 coins.

All these stores offer cute items at low prices.

It’s trendy to buy several and stack them up or place vases or candles on top of them.

Original DIY with Your Own Photos♡

Here are some DIY ideas using dummy books ♡

It’s also recommended to customize them by wrapping paper printed with your own photos ♡

Even though dummy books are just placed as interior decorations, by using your own photos and adding names or wedding anniversaries, you can elevate them into special items that will attract your guests' attention ♡

It feels like your own story has become a book!

Don't you want to try making them? ♡

Materials and How to Make♡

Check out the actual DIY video from @don__wd, which is easy to understand ♡

【Materials】

- Dummy book

- Cover material (3 sheets: front, back, and spine)

➡ It seems they used A4 paper printed out for the cover material from a Daiso dummy book.*

- Cutter

- Double-sided tape

- Scissors

- Gold Posca

【Steps】

① Create a design on your smartphone or computer and print it on A4 paper

② Trace the text areas of the printed paper with a gold Posca pen to make them bolder (as needed)

③ Consider the balance, and make creases to align with the corners of the dummy book for the front, back, and spine

④ Start with the spine! Fold the printed paper according to the measurements of the dummy book.

⑤ Create another crease about 1cm outside of the original fold, and cut off the excess with a cutter

⑥ Apply double-sided tape to the dummy book, and carefully attach the paper

⑦ Next is the front cover! Again, create a crease with a 1cm allowance on the outside and cut off the excess (for the edges overlapping with the spine, cut without any margin)

⑧ Carefully stick it on (any excess parts can be folded back and secured nicely)

⑨ Finally, the back cover! Create a crease here too with an additional 1cm allowance (the side overlapping with the spine can be cut without a margin), and cut off the excess

⑩ Carefully attach it

And you’re done! ♡

The video from @don__wd details every aspect, so definitely watch it closely before attempting ♡

You Will Want to Make Several♡

We introduced a DIY idea to uniquely customize dummy books using your own photos.

Since the image is that of a Western book, it might be fun to make the photos slightly sepia or monochrome, or if adding text, to use a font similar to your favorite brand's logo, or come up with a stylish catalog-like design.

Please give it a try and create several to decorate in your welcome space! ♡
