Regular place cards mainly feature text, but kayoko's place cards focus on illustrations of the guests (not just faces, but full-body illustrations!). The names are only written small above the illustrations.
When looking at the guest table, I was excited to find out what my own illustration looked like!
Holding eucalyptus leaves like a tiny person is also so cute.
These place cards were not commissioned from a wedding venue or a paper goods company; kayoko made them herself! (Upon speaking with her, I learned that kayoko is a graphic designer! ♡)
Since the gathering was just for family, all the guests were family members.
Because kayoko knows her family best, she didn't just draw their faces; she paid attention to their expressions, clothing, the way they held the leaves, and even small poses like putting their hands in their pockets. You can really feel the vibe and personality of each person from this single drawing.
It seems that the groom's side of the family worked on the portraits under the groom's supervision.
The time spent discussing family expressions and gestures, saying things like, "Is the angle of the eyes different?" or "This looks just like them!" was said to be very enjoyable for the couple. ♡
Kayoko has loved drawing since she was little, and the joy her family expressed over her artwork is the root of her current profession.
She created these place cards with heartfelt intentions, thinking, "I hope this brings a nostalgic feeling to my family and a fresh feeling to my husband's family, and serves as a little surprise." It seems they have become treasures for the family. ♡
