A New Design for the Seating Chart♡

A seating chart to convey the information "Your table is here♩" to the guests attending the wedding.

It’s a large and eye-catching item that stands out in the welcome space.

It’s a staple in overseas weddings, but we’re seeing more brides in Japan preparing them as well.

That seating chart typically features:

✅ Find your Seat (Please find your seat)

✅ Table alphabets or numbers

✅ Guest names

It’s standard to have a design that consists only of text.

Using larger items like boards or mirrors, the layout usually looks similar to this, with text displayed.

But!

Using Pre-Wedding Photos to Create it＊

This seating chart features the following:

It’s a monochrome, cool design made by bride 𝑆𝑈𝑍𝑈𝐾𝐴 (@_____s.1010) who got married in November 2022, incorporating their pre-wedding photos＊

The sections of monochrome photos are arranged as tables A to K.

In other words,

✅ The background of the seating chart’s tables is made using photos,

✅ while the rest has a white background.

(The size of the tables is in proportion to the actual layout.)

How to Create it＊

I asked 𝑆𝑈𝑍𝑈𝐾𝐴 for the steps to create this seating chart.

【Steps】

① Based on the seating chart, create design data arranging all tables in gray squares like the image below (including text).

② Overlay the pre-wedding photos you want to use on top.

③ Use the layer mask feature (which allows you to hide parts of an image in a layer) to conceal areas other than the table sections (the gray part in the image).

This way, the background of just the table sections will pop up with the photo♡

If you are someone who usually designs or a bride familiar with Photoshop, you might be thinking, “I see! That’s how you do it!”

For printing, you can ask a printing service like Print Pack to finish it as an A2 size panel＊

What about the Guests’ Names...?

However, the guest names were not written on this seating chart＊

So how do guests know which table to sit at...?

𝑆𝑈𝑍𝑈𝐾𝐸 said she handmade switching letters and escort cards and would give one to each guest.

By writing the table number on the escort cards, guests can know where their seat is, which is reassuring.

By the way, switching letters are a performance where guests read letters from the bride and groom at the ceremony.

I thought it was a nice idea to use the envelope for the escort card too♡

I used to think that seating charts mainly focused on the names of tables and guests...

But I was excited about this new layout idea, which, while simple, has an emphasis on being stylish and has a unique touch♡

𝑆𝑈𝑍𝑈𝐾𝐴 plans to display no other photos in the welcome space apart from this board. It’s so eye-catching on its own that I believe it will create a wonderful welcome space!
