This Ring Pillow is Too Cute ♡
I found a super cute shell ring pillow.
Here it is.
This was prepared by the bride, makkiroom.
The inside of the shell has little bumps of freshwater pearls, and the wedding rings are hooked directly onto the pearls in the ring pillow.
The pearls are not added afterwards; they are natural.
Isn't it really wonderful to use that natural structure to create a ring pillow (or plate)?
I thought it was a genius and adorable idea ♡
It's called a Pearl Shell
This shell with freshwater pearl clusters is called a "Pearl Shell."
Pearl Shells are often sold at natural stone shops as purification plates with a cleansing or protective meaning.
(They are sometimes sold in sets with white sage leaves or power stone chips!)
How does this happen?
The dish part is made from the mother shell of a species called the Iketchogai (池蝶貝) or Hireiketchogai (鰭池蝶貝), which produces freshwater pearls.
From each mother shell of this species, it takes several years to cultivate 30 to 50 freshwater pearls, and as you might know, the shapes of the pearls can vary from perfectly round to irregular baroque forms.
Among them, the pearls that are not fully developed and remain partly protruding from the mother shell until they are sorted out are what we call Pearl Shells ♡
Enjoy Both Shell and Pearl ♡
The best part of Pearl Shells is that you can enjoy both the shell and the pearl.
Naturally, since they are natural, no two look alike, which is another highlight.
The colors of the shells can range from silver to rainbow or aurora-like hues, giving them different atmospheres.
Perfect for a Ring Pillow ♡
While it's common to see ring pillows for weddings designed with agate or brass plates with pearls added afterwards...
It's truly beautiful and romantic that the protruding part for holding the rings, like in this Pearl Shell ring pillow, is completely natural ♡
Makkiroom said she purchased it for about 1,800 yen each at Stone Club, a store located in Osaka's Shinsaibashi.
Brides living in Kansai should definitely go check it out ♡
When choosing a ring pillow, it seems best to select one with larger freshwater pearls to easily hook the rings.
They can be purchased on Rakuten for around 1,000 to 2,000 yen.
