Palm-sized Poppy "Italian Poppy"
I found a wonderful flower that is only grown by a flower farm called "Crain Field" in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan! ♡
It's a large poppy, palm-sized, called the "Italian Poppy"*
Did you know there is such a large poppy...?
It's about 2-3 times the size of what you imagine a poppy to be!
The poppies we know are roughly the size of a fist for the larger ones.
(About this size.)
The Italian Poppy is about the size of a man's open hand.
There have never been large poppies in Japan before.
The Italian Poppy is grown by Crain Field, a flower farm in Fukuoka Prefecture.
Crain Field visited Italy in 2020 for research on pompon ranunculus and encountered the Italian Poppy, which captivated them.
Three years later, after conducting cultivation tests and research, they finally succeeded in blooming them in Japan! ♡
Although advancements in poppy breeding have progressed overseas, they seem to have been less so in Japan. I'm excited to think that such a large poppy that has never existed before will spread in Japan!
(This is a photo of Italian Poppies from overseas. Amazing 😳)
You can create wedding bouquets like this!
By using this Italian Poppy, it will be possible to make large poppy wedding bouquets that previously could only be created with artificial flowers in Japan! ♡
A cute wedding bouquet featuring large poppies. I thought I rarely saw this in Japan... but realizing that this variety has been rare in Japan, I understand now.
(Perhaps they might have been imported and brought to Japan...!)

The 2023 shipment of Italian Poppies from Crain Field, the only grower in Japan, has reportedly ended after April 11.
The poppy season is around February to April, so they will bloom beautifully again next year.
Brides who want to use "big real poppies like in overseas weddings!" should ask their wedding venue's florist if they can get Italian Poppies! *
I'm excited to think that large poppies will become commonly seen in Japanese flower shops and used in wedding bouquets! ♡
