The Chapel at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo has been Renewed!
Celebrating its 70th anniversary, the historic hotel "Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo".
✅ 267 guest rooms
✅ Three chapels, three shrines, and over 20 banquet halls in the banquet building
✅ A vast garden with a five-story pagoda and a waterfall (an astounding 4,800 tsubo!)
With its historical background, it's a hotel with a beautiful garden that makes you forget you're in Tokyo. It’s a hotel that everyone knows.
It’s often said to be one of the "three major wedding venues in Tokyo," and one of the chapels, "Vainveil," is set to be renewed in September 2023, so the marry editorial team went to check it out!
As a wedding venue, the chapel at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo is renowned for its popularity in the city.
Many of you might be curious about the renewed look, so I’ll be reporting with plenty of photos ♡
A Standalone Chapel Built Among the Trees!
Typically, chapels in hotels are located within the hotel, but the chapel "Vainveil" at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo is a standalone chapel situated within a garden resembling a forest.
One might even be led to believe they are in Karuizawa with the enchanting atmosphere.
Here is the building that houses the chapel.
It has a roof and umbrellas are available to borrow (it was raining on the day of our visit), so we were able to move around almost without getting wet!
The building that houses the chapel was once used as an art museum. (It is said that Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo was originally a residence built by the military officer and politician Aritomo Yamagata.)
Descending this stairs, you enter this space below.
The walls are transparent, allowing a view into the chapel.

Here’s the renewed chapel "Vainveil"!
The ceiling is 5.6m high, and at the end of the long bridal path are glass windows.
(This is an official daytime photo!)
From the second floor, the choir and musicians play music.
The choir and performers, along with the staff, were dressed in mustard-colored dresses. It is rare to see such charming uniforms! It was so glamorous!
The wall opposite the corridor in the chapel is mirrored, which is also one of the design elements.

We Also Sampled New Menu Items!
The banquet meals at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo are a fusion of both French and Japanese culinary techniques.
It is said that this has been adapted over time to reflect changing demands, thus earning the name "THE TOKYO CUISINE."
(It's quite rare in the culinary world for a French chef and a Japanese chef to collaborate on the same menu, and it’s reportedly more challenging to achieve than one might imagine.)
Twice a year, the chefs, planners, and the wedding team gather to discuss and evolve the menu.
There’s a drink pairing provided, offering recommended wines or teas for every dish from appetizers to desserts, which was very impressive.
True to its reputation as a hotel that is believed to be the first to offer afternoon tea in Tokyo, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo also provides a dessert experience meant for guests to relax in the hotel lounge, with options for a stand system 🍰
By the way, the newlywed couples staying at the hotel are treated to a special breakfast. What a luxurious and elegant morning! 🍽
Come Visit!
Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, which boasts a vast garden that makes you forget you are in the city, offers not just the four seasons but seven seasons known as "Nanaki"—"Camellia," "Cherry Blossom," "Fresh Green," "Firefly," "Cool Summer," "Autumn," and "Winter," where you can enjoy different aspects, making it one of the best places to experience Japan.
You’re sure to discover different charms and expressions each time you visit. I envy the couples who can attend meetings here regularly!
There are about 20 varieties of banquet halls to suit the number of guests, all providing lovely views of the garden.
↓ This venue had a staircase that looked stunning for re-entrance, and I felt a sense of hospitality with a special elevator for wheelchair users 🥹✨
During the upcoming moon-viewing season, the closest full moon in Tokyo, "TOKYO MOON," will be held. (From September 19 to November 8)
On the day we visited, they happened to be testing for TOKYO MOON, and I was fortunate to see it early. The large moon floated amidst the sea of clouds, creating a truly fantastical and enchanting sight!
It would be lovely for this place to become a significant location for couples, where they hold face-to-face meetings, have their wedding, and celebrate their first meal with their child ...! ♡
