How to Write Addresses on Invitations? *

Before sending out wedding invitations, what must be done? That is "address writing"! *

I am a former bride who had my wedding last year, but I was really troubled by writing the addresses for the invitations.

Since it's something that will be sent to guests, I want to write it personally with care. However, it would be rude if my handwriting isn’t neat...

Generally, it is said that handwritten addresses are more considerate than printed ones. It seems best to send a handwritten envelope to guests who take the time to celebrate the couple.

Invitations that must be sent with beautiful handwriting.

But, many brides might think, "It's hard to write them myself!"

No worries in such cases! I’ve gathered methods for writing addresses on wedding invitations ♡

Method 1 for Addressing Invitations: Ask Parents *

If you have a family member with nice handwriting, ask your family for help ♡ By the way, I asked my mother! I’ve heard that some people also ask the groom’s parents.

Since it's family, it's easy to ask, so if you're not confident in your handwriting or cannot spend time on it, don’t hesitate to ask them for help! *

Method 2 for Addressing Invitations: Use a Calligraphy Service

Using a calligraphy service that does address writing for invitations is also an option.

The going rate seems to be around 130 yen per piece. Having someone write the names one by one can be a very time-consuming task, so it’s recommended for busy working couples.

Method 3 for Addressing Invitations: Use a Trick to Write

That said, the best way to address invitations is for the couple to write each one with care.

But for those who are still not confident in their handwriting.

I found some tips that pre-brides are actually using, so let me introduce them! *

The first trick is this ♡

Create frames for the address, stamp, and name positions, and place this frame on top of the envelope to write the text ♩

Since balance in handwriting is important, this idea is worth imitating ♡

For a horizontal envelope, the stamp should be in the upper right corner, and for a vertical envelope, it should be in the upper left.

Generally, "brush pen" is fundamental for writing addresses for invitations. So it's advisable to purchase a brush pen and write ♩

The second trick is this ♡

First, input the address and name using a computer, printing it to the right size for the invitation.

Then place a transparent case on an LED light, put the printed sheet inside the envelope, and turn on the light. Afterwards, just trace the letters that shine through! *

Many brides said that they could write smoothly using this trick! If only I had known before my wedding...

The key is to choose a calligraphy-style font when printing the text.

Many brides seem to have purchased LED lights at 100 yen shops like Daiso.

For the transparent case, use a document case or Tupperware. Anything that is clear and sturdy should work.

The third trick is a method that doesn’t require any printing at all! *

This involves displaying text on an iPad or laptop screen, using the screen's light to highlight the letters, and tracing them.

Just be careful not to damage the screen while doing this ♩

<How to do it>

① Type the address and name in Word to fit the envelope size.

② Disconnect the keyboard, fixing the envelope with masking tape, then trace the illuminated letters with a light.

<Tips>

☑ Before removing the keyboard, turn off "Touch Panel Function" and "Auto Rotation."

☑ Making the address approximately 80-90% width makes it easier to write.

☑ Leave a half-width space between the name and “sama”.

☑ Fix the masking tape in about three places (to prevent slipping).

Also, if you press the paper down with your left hand or if your hand touches the iPad while writing, it may shift, so using gloves might be a good idea ◎

Using Word on an iPad can be quite a hassle in terms of settings. If you use a site that converts typed text to the selected font, it makes things easier.

Let’s Send Invitations with Heart ♡

The date for sending the invitations is decided once the date of the wedding is set. If the sending date of the invitations is delayed, it will inconvenience guests, so plan and prepare accordingly ♡

For the "address writing" on invitations, please try to write it by hand with care instead of printing it, as much as possible. *
