Starting My Wedding Report: Thoughts and Highlights on the Ceremony ♡
2016.07.23 published
First, let me introduce myself*
Hello, I'm Nagisa from marry. I recently had my wedding in June, and when I spoke with the editor-in-chief, Haruno, she asked me to do a wedding report for marry's articles*
I've always worked at wedding venues, but becoming a bride was a first-time experience for me*
Actually, I worked part-time at a wedding venue for six years, from my second year of high school to four years of university.
Since I've assisted with over 600 weddings during my part-time job, I never had a lack of knowledge about weddings that would cause me any trouble! If anything, I think I knew quite a lot about weddings as a bride.
However, that was from the perspective of a venue's operational staff. As a bride-to-be, I was a complete beginner, and everything was a new experience for me.
I had almost a year from the time we chose our venue until the wedding day, so I probably had more preparation time than the average person, but wedding planning was still quite challenging, and there were several troubles along the way.
But, on the day itself, it was truly a lot of fun!!!! I really felt that weddings are wonderful, and I was genuinely moved♡
So, I hope to share some insights that might be helpful for future marry brides!♩
Regarding the wedding planning...
As for my basic personality, I tend to be quite lazy. I care a lot about specific aspects, but I completely ignore others. I'm a typical type B personality (laughs).
So, during the wedding planning, there was a significant gap between the points I was particular about and those I wasn’t.
What I cared about the most was ensuring that our guests would have fun!
I wanted it to be a wedding that guests would think, "I'm glad I went"*
I wanted our guests to enjoy the day of the wedding without feeling burdened or pretentious. Although it was our wedding, I aimed to create an event where we could reconnect with long-lost friends, enjoy delicious food, laugh a lot, and cry (?), ultimately making it a fulfilling and memorable day where everyone would think, "I'm glad I came!"*
Choosing a venue to fulfill our dream*
We visited about 15 venues for our search. Because I worked at a wedding venue, I was particularly sensitive to how the staff treated us. It’s a classic case of a work-related observation that most people wouldn't usually notice (laughs).
Therefore, I eliminated venues from consideration if I had about three concerns about their service during a single visit.
Then there was the atmosphere of the venue. Since my partner and I met in our university travel club, we envisioned a resort wedding that felt like visiting another country. So we were looking for a place that would allow us to forget the daily hustle and bustle♩
Of course, budget was also important. We wanted to make it the best within our means, so we compared various options.
Also, since I wanted to be particular about photography, video, dresses, hair and makeup, and flowers, I checked whether venues allowed outside vendors while planning.
And the venue we chose was...
The venue we chose was Hotel New Otani Makuhari!
The thoughtful service characteristic of long-established hotels and the venue's large pool area with its own independence, along with the flexibility to accommodate outside vendors, were significant reasons for choosing this wedding venue♡
The proximity to my hometown, being close to the station, the spacious parking lot, and the fact that it would be easy for guests to attend, along with the delicious food typical of a well-known hotel, were also key factors in our decision◎
I will report from the next time♡
From the next post, I will summarize my wedding report and my thoughts on having the wedding!
However, since it’s a request from my favorite Haruno, asking me to do a wedding report for marry, I really want to share helpful information for brides-to-be out there as much as possible...
There are currently no brides doing wedding reports for marry, so I am in a bit of an exploratory state right now...
I would appreciate any suggestions for themes or requests you might have♡
